Weatherby or Sako?

My Sako 75 SS in 300 RUM is sweet. Sako is my first purchase and short of a custom build will bu the one I stay with.

Reading from a write up the 85 has a better bolt Way. a recoil heal ? for better precision. a patented securite locking magazine, mat black barrel. The one i handled did feel nice to hold as the stock is a slimmer shape. But the price had gone up by 20/25% . Don't know how much that affects the price in the USA

I have a German Weatherby in 300 Wby, a Sako 75 in 300 RUM, and a neat old Sako Forester in 243 Win. The Forester has been shot a whole lot, and it's Bofors steel barrel flunked its bore scope exam and is to be rebarreled.

Aside from the barrel, I have had no problems with either make, and would buy more of either if I could justify it. Might prefer the Sako, however, because my sense is Sako design is advancing while Weatherby's is stalled ("It was good enough for Roy..."). Also, Weatherby may have suffered because it's production sites have changed over the years. Finally, there seem to be more aftermarket custom bits and pieces (like mod 70 safeties and-maybe-a locking system fix) available for Sakos.

One problem I have with both makes is the stock style. It is robotic, and I just don't like it. All three of mine have been or will be restocked in better wood, to a more relaxed "American Classic" style, with only the Sako palm swell carried over. Come to think of it, I guess I'd go with a CZ in preference to either make.

Hands down, Sako for many of the same reasons as above. Plus if you don't like it (for some reason...) better resale from waht I've seen.
