A fellow worker gave me a Weaver K2.5 scope. I don't want to ruin it. Will it be able to withstand the shock from an 8x57 Mauser?

It is a 1" steel tube. Stamped on it as: WEAVER K2.5/ PATENTED, an S inside a diamond/ EL PASO TEX USA

It has slim lined cross hairs. Knurled adjustment caps.

I tried to find specific information through search engines, but nothing specific, though in the 30's Weaver moved from Kentucky to Texas.

This was the guy's fathers' scope, so I'd rather not ruin it.

Thanks for any info or direction(s) to take. :)

Of course it will, if it isn't already falling apart.

The Weaver K series scopes were one of the best hi-power rifle scopes most of us could afford back then when they were still made.

They have been mounted on everything from .22 RF to .460 Weatherby ever since.

And the majority of them still are, until somebody who inherited a rifle with one on it decides they need a new 20x target scope to hit a beer can at 50 yards!

Ive had one on a 30-06 in Weaver rings & bases since 1962, and it will undoubtedly out-live me.

I'm not the untimate expert, but think it will be OK. I have a 3x Lyman mounted on a .30-30, and it holds up well.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that statement. :D

But, yes, it should hold up.

Okay, thanks for the replies. It feels solid. I had seen something on Weaver scopes for rimfire. Wanted to make sure this wasn't one.

The old Weaver .22 scopes were all 3/4" tubes.

No chance of a 1" K-Series being a .22 scope.
