Weaver vs Picatinny vs. ? Newbie questions

I was reared on a farm and served with the Army in Vietnam. I've been around firearms all of my life. But I have no experience with scopes till recently. Two weeks ago I purchased a used standard Henry lever action that came with an inexpensive scope. The rail or mount on that is a dovetail shape that is 7/16" at its' widest point.

This week I purchased a used Browning Buckmark that came with a red dot scope. The rail for that is detachable. According to Bass Pro Shop it uses a Weaver mount.

I'm not sure of the difference between a Weaver and a Picatinny mount? Is there an advantage of one over the other? And what type of mount is that on the Henry rifle?

Bottom line:
Weaver style rings will fit either Picatinny or Weaver bases.

Picatinny rings will not fit Weaver bases.

Both the Browning & Henry have Weaver ring compatable bases.
You'd have to measure the cross-grooves to see if Picatinny rings would fit or not.
