Webley MkII

I've been looking to pick up a Webley to replace the MkIV I foolishly sold years ago.

Today I came across an old MkII converted to .45ACP. Very good condition. Original grips. Good finish. Mechanically in good shape.

Nice addition to the family and by far my oldest revolver (and only one pre 1900).

Had the chance to run a few cylinders full of soft .45ACP lead round nose through it today.

Very accurate. Only shot at 10 yards, but got more then a few three shot groups in little cloverleafs. Shoots nicely to POA. Just make the lollipop and pull the trigger.

Going to order some Georgia Arms .45Auto Rim. Their 230gr is at 780FPS. Not going to shoot a lot. Just for rainy days.

Trigger is heavy, but smooth.

I don't think that MK. II's were proofed for nitro powders, but some older Webleys had later Mk. V style cylinders fitted by the govt. armorers.

I'd handload this pretty soft, but original ballistics should be obtainable; the .455 isn't a high velocity cartridge, anyway.

Nice find, and thank you SO much for the nice photos.

I'll pass this on to friends on a forum dedicated to a TV show where many of the heroes used Webley revolvers. Some will probably come here and look.
