Does anyone here ever have weird gun dreams?

I had a bizarre dream last night . I can only remember parts of it. It involved a science fiction futuristic setting, but almost all of the firearms were of a current type or strange derivations thereof. In the dream we were getting ready for a Bad Situation and I realize that I don't have a functional firearm. I'm digging through tons of available equipment and I can't find anything that matches up. Lots of 5.56mm ammo, several broken 5.56mm weapons, but not a single one that can be made to work. Functional 9mm and .45acp weapons, not a round of either to be found. I see a stack of 7.62x39 and some AK style weaons on the other side of the room. They're all AK-74's! :what: Aaaahhh!! I'm desperately digging through random piles trying to find something I can match up for the Impending Unpleasantness. Very disturbing.

Maybe I should go buy some more ammo today. :)

I had a good on recently. Me and two friends that pack were in a fast food place...eatin's and hangin' around. There were a few other folks in the place as well. Everything nice and easy when this goofed up looking guy comes blowing in and brandishes this old bowie looking knife and starts demanding that everyone empty their pockets.. Me and my two friends just sit there observing but make no attempt to comply. Wnen the goofed up looking BG turns his attention to me and my friends, we all pull out our handguns in unison and draw down on the desperado. I say to the fella, "Hey boy, your daddy must have forgot to tell you, don't ever show up at a gun fight with just a knife!". The guy takes off....we stow our guns and go back to our business like nothing ever happend.

These other two guys (my friends) are guys I work with, shoot with and and make up our little tribe.

LOL! Your thread title really caught my eye!
I usually have the same type of recurring dream, but with variations.

Usually, I'm involved in some type of shoot-out with a Really Bad Person, determined to kill my family and me. I fire multiple rounds into his center of mass, but to no avail. The gun has little or no recoil, a small report, and I can actually see the bullets in their flight path - like shooting paintballs. Sometimes, the rounds penetrate (I can see holes in the perp's shirt), but he just keeps coming at me.

BTW - I have a 9mm. Perhaps Someone's trying to tell me something???

My "house gun" is a Mossy 500 loaded with 00, and my 9mm is a HS2000 loaded with Hydra-Shoks, which I CCW.

A former co-worker who studied psychology once told me that the dreams were probably a symptom of mental frustration. Looking back at that particular job, it's understandable. I haven't had those dreams since I've changed jobs 2 years ago. Now, my dreams only consist of unarmed hand-to-hand combat. I usually win with a choke or joint lock. Progress!

I think I know what you need. Anyone else remember a revolver that was made that could fire multiple types of ammo with the same cylinder? The cylinder chambers expanded/contracted to fit the cartridges.

I know what you mean. I've talked about it on here before, but all of my gun dreams are similar to that. I either don't have ammo, it jams when I try and load it, I don't have the strength to even pull the slide back, etc. It always freaks me out too.

Hmmm... maybe that's my problem. I dread my job. Too bad all these stupid habits and bills won't let me quit. :D

Yes, it was called the Medusa made by Cadco. Little known was that you could send in your stock S&W 586/686 (a revolver most already know and trust) and have them replace the cylinder with theirs, turning your revolver into something that could fire .380acp, 9mm, .38super as well as .38 special and .357 magnum. Essentially, a mechanism built into the cylinder would "grip" the extractor groove on the rimless case (preventing it from sliding further into the cylinder) and release it once the ejector rod was pressed.

I often have dreams where I'm shooting bad guys with my empty gun..making gunshot sounds and doing fake recoil and fake reloads.......something Freudian here maybe:uhoh:

According to Freud, all these dreams mean you want to get "intimate" with your mothers.

Realistically, it means to lay off the pizza before bed.

Too much time on-line reading SHTF or TEOTWAWKI threads. Read happier things and think happier.

I had the pen-ultimate gun dream. It was long an complicated so I'll sum up.

Started with me on my way to a civil rights conference.
I had my EDC rig (no CCW yet so knife, flashlight, cellphone).
Blissninnies tried to stop me from speaking and armed MIB with Berrettas and Micro-Uzis (half dual wielding) came out of the woodwork.
Disarmed and confiscated enough firepower to make it to the conferance and put in a good word for our side.
Took a Micro-Uzi home in a pocket ;)

I have lots of gun related dreams...usually of the Action Hero style.

One thing I 'suffer' from is the not being able to hit anything, or the gun not being effective enough. Other times I do okay. This I have also noticed in hand to hand combat in dreams....I'll swing with all my might, and it's like I barely touch the guy...kinda like when you play box with your little brother and fake the punch...
Anyways, some of the dreams are pretty interesting when I remember them. I even wrote one of them down and started a little short story based on it. (No, I'll spare you all and not publish it...)

BryanP could also get himself an Astra 400.

When 9mm Largo ammunition was hard to find in quantity shooters regularly fired other cartridges such as the 9mm Luger, 9mm Steyr, 9mm Browning Long, etc in their 9mm Largo firearms.
Yes, the .38 Super and 9x23mm Winchester will chamber in most 9mm Largo firearms, and if they will chamber they will fire.
WARNING:
The Astra 400 is a straight blowback design The only thing keeping the chamber closed during firing is the recoil spring, the only thing to retard and stop rearward movement of the slide during recoil is the recoil spring, weight of the slide, and the momentary gripping of the chamber walls by the expanding cartridge case. Use of these type cartridges in the Astra 400 risks damage to the pistol and possibly yourself through a ruptured chamber, fractured slide, or fractured frame

Only one gun related dream that I can recall.

Walking into a wired grove of woods to go deer hunting I notice a pair of 800lbs vultures skulking around, so I shoot them but it take all my ammo to put them down. After that it gets real quite and all these werewolves start coming out of the shadows in which I start to fight with them one at a time "Mortal Combat" style.

Very weird indeed.

had one the other night. i was at a grocery store and one section had no light. i dont mean electricity, it was like a black fog. someone was stealing stuff from that section and i couldnt see them because it was murky dark. there wasnt even a transitional area where it got progessively lighter or darker. i was standing on the edge and all of a sudden this guy walks out.
i pulled my gun out and pointed it at him, but he kept on walking towards me. i was thinking to myself 'what am i doing? hes a thief, not a threat' but i was still contemplating pulling the trigger on him.
thats all i remember. who knows if i caught the thief or killed him?

Last night I had one where me and the wife were on vacation in Georga. We were driving down the road and I was going thru every red light....and suddenly I thought..."what amI doing?....I'm carrying illegally where I don't have a permit and I'm just begging to get puller over!!!"
Apparently I somehow got a gun on the plane and brought it on vacation......weird:cool:

I've had hundreds of gun dreams. Most are action/adventure types that are fun and everything goes well. Occasionally, my gun either jams or has little effect on the target. My favorite gun dream is below. Some of you might remember it from a post on TFL a while ago...

The dream was a full length Smurfs episode in which Gargamel found a huge tank and decided to use it to wipe out those rotten little Smurfs once and for all! Gargamel located the Smurfs' village because he and Azreal kept hearing small popping sounds in the forest. He discovered that the Smurfs had built a shooting range and were practicing shooting all kinds of little guns! The Smurfs were being trained by a new Smurf: Commando Smurf, who wore camouflage instead of the plain white outfits. During the training session Clumsy Smurf had a ND and Smurfette was complaining about the guns being too dangerous and wondering why the Smurfs needed those nasty, evil guns. She left the village, upset at the warlike behavior of the Smurfs.

Gargamel left a trail that he followed back to the village with his tank. Gargamel found Smurfette through his tank's sights and captured her and held her hostage as he drove the tank into the village. The Smurfs saw him coming and Papa Smurf ordered all the Smurfs to prepare for battle under the command of Commando Smurf. They all came out in camouflage with little AR-15s and AK-47s.

The smurfs found out that Gargamel had Smurfette hostage, so they couldn't fire at him. They had to use clever tactics to lead Gargamel's tank over a cliff. Gargamel, Azreal and Smurfette managed to escape before they plummeted over the cliff and the Smurfs saved Smurfette and drove Gargamel and Azreal out of the village with their little guns.

Then it was time for the moral of the story and Papa Smurf gave a speech explaining how important guns are to maintaining their village and that they must always be ready and able to defend themselves. Smurfette also agreed that guns were not evil and could be used to protect and defend.
:D

Good night and sweet dreams to you all!

SCARY

WOW this is really freaking me out. I think we are all suffering the same mental problems. It sounds like many of us have the same recurring theme in many of the dreams we have. Lots of bad guys, innefective guns, gun jams, and runnning out of ammo.

In about 90% of dreams I am attempting to save misc people. The problem I have in every dream is my gun will not perform as to reality. The Bg will take dozens of shot and not stop or even flinch. I also frequantly run out of ammo, or will have a jam that I cannot clear!!! I get so worked up in some of my dreams I have woken myself up. After i have woke up I don't feel better until I find my house gun and make sure I have a full mag.

I keep hoping that someday my dreams will start to allow me to actually take out the bad guy. The one thing that I have noticed in real life is I have gotten really good at keeping my gun clean to avoid jams, I also am extremly anal about keeping a good supply of ammo close by. If any of my dreams ever do come true I don't want to be a dead man because I ran out of ammo.

I have two recurring dreams...

The "gun dream" goes like this. ~I'm in the jungle on my belly and I take my shot. Instantly and all around me bullets from AK's are hitting the vegetation. I try to run, but it's like I'm in slow motion. Everything is going really fast-but me. It's like I'm running through molasses.

I recently had a rather weird gun dream... I needed something to defend myself with. What appears in my hand? A purple, polymer frame snubbie revolver... :scrutiny:

I bought that gun, only it was Titanium, Nightfall. It was originally Taurus Blue, but something had happened to the finish and it was purple! I got a great price on it, but when I got home the wife thought it was "cute" so I only got to keep it long enough to range test it before it disappeared into her ccw purse. It only reappears when it needs cleaning or reloading. Is this a dream or a nightmare?

Safe packin'

It's not us, it's everybody. Raise your hand if you can run full speed in a dream, drive a car that will actually move when you hit the gas, or shoot a gun that will actually hit something. These sorts of frustration dreams are VERY common and any gun-related content is likely coincidence or is an insignificant part of the plot of the dream. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

Last night I had a dream where my FN FAL couldn't put a bullet thru a refrigerator door, as I shot I could see them just start to penetrate and still be hanging out the front. I don't even own a FAL, been looking to buy one tho. Smae things with most weapons too, jams, can't cycle the action, lacking physical strength, etc.

I usually can run full speed or better in my dreams tho, it's wierd, like something Neo would do in the Matrix, but I"d have dreams like this before it came out.
