Well, finally shot the K-31, 10/22, and Mini-14 today.

Off the bench, at 100 yards, I shot a 1 1/2" group...except it had one flyer that expanded the group out to 3"... Recoil was stout, but not unbearable at first. After I round through 50 rounds in 3-4 minutes my shoulder was aching and I was beggining to flinch. Come on, give me a break it was my first time with a major caliber. My Mini-14 shot much better (best group was just over 2") as well. The Hogue stock improved my groups a lot. I can't wait to get my muzzle break on. That should help some. The 10/22 that I recieved as a gift shot very well too. I am very impressed with the Swiss and Rugers :)

Those K-31s are a work of art! I'm seriously considering taking a (very) brief break from frantically aquiring Enfields to get one.

Been shooting for 20 years, and I found a flinch with my shotgun the other day. I'm not talking a minor flinch, here, I'm talking groups measured in feet at 100 yards.

It should have been obvious that would be the case, since I haven't been shooting at all for at least 8 months. Skills perish.

Anyway, no dishonor in a new guy having a flinch. You did the right thing by stopping as soon as it started to manifest. That will keep you from developing a flinch over the long run.

At least you realized you have a flinch...You can fix it. I know a lot of guys that swear they don't flinch-then I load a dummy round when they aren't looking. :p

Now it's settled, I AM getting one of those K-31's over winter break at the end of this semester. I've just gotten fresh into hand-loading so the price of 7.5 swiss doesn't bother me.

If you order ammo from dansammo.com and mention the "www.swissrifles.com" forum, he'll give you 60 rounds for $30 with 10 chargers (each charger holds 6 rounds like the K-31's magazine). Usually the chargers alone can sell for $2 a piece. So, after you use the chargers once, you can go to the gun show and come back with $20. It's like getting 60 rounds for $10, which is around the price of .223!!
