Quick story.

Sold my Kahr MK9 - love that pistol, but it's a bit heavy for SmartCarry, espec. when jogging, so I wanted something lighter. I was thinking of a Airweight or Airlight syle .38 snub (or LCR), or a Ruger LCP or Taurus 738. As for airlights, was considering the Taurus 85 M - U.L. - Ti.

So I was in my favorite gun store handling a couple of airweight snubbies from S&W & Taurus, and also considering the Taurus SLIM 709 9mm and SigArms P238, in addition to those and the LCR, LCP, & Taurus 738.....that's when ol' boy employee walked up from the back stocking room and said to the guy helping me, "Here, put this one in the case; we just got these in" - it was the Kahr .380 - so he immediately handed it to me, and it took me about 30 seconds of fondling to say I'll take it.

So when I get it out, it will be the new SmartCarry for EDC until the Boberg or ArchAngel come out.

I'll report back after shooting. Price was $599 - a bit high, but if it's a good as my other Kahr, it will be worth it. It's around 11 ounces only, IIRC. I'll be one of the first in this area to have one - believe they've been vaporware until now. :) Definitely a step up in quality from the Kel-Tec, Ruger, and Taurus .380s, though the Taurus looked the best of those 3.

P.S. The SigArms P238 is really nice - never saw a 1911 that can engage then manual with the hammer down. But it was a bit heavy for what I wanted. The Sig and the Kahr look to be the nicest of the new .380s, but the Micro Desert Eagle wasn't too bad either. The Kahr is the only REALLY light one in that upper tier of quality .380s (is one way to look at it, IMO, anyway), which includes stuff like the NAA, Seecamp, etc.

And I don't understand why the Ruger LCR is not lighter than the Taurus 85 M UL Ti - aren't they both 13.5 oz? The Taurus is aluminum & titanium - the Ruger is polymer with just a smidge o' steel. :p

Oh yeah, as usual, in the end, I can't do a hillary hole S&W, no matter how good otherwise.

Very cool.

I don't own one (yet), but I've put some magazine fulls through one, and I'm pretty much sold.

Keep us posted.

P380 is an excellent choice in my opinion. I have almost 700 rounds through the one I got last February. Just had night sights put on last month.

whats even better is Taurus has a 856 hy-lyte that weights less than the LCR and holds 6 rounds...

Good luck on the p380. let us know. Its been a year and they are still pretty much not reviewed.

I bought the Kahr P380 for my wife and the PM9 in Black Diamond for myself a few weeks ago. Hopefully this weekend we can go to the local indoor shooting range and start on our 200 round break in. I'll follow this thread and keep everyone posted as to our results.

Very good choice, I ran some rounds through mine yesterday. It's a soft shooter which means that you can practice with what you carry without pain and discomfort. Good pick.

I have about 300 rounds through my Kahr .380. Great gun, my EDC when my P9 isn't appropriatate. Mine has the best trigger pull I've experience in a DAO.

Congrats on the new family member.

How's the .380 ammo situation these days?

I paid a high price for a couple boxes of Hdyra Shoks a month ago.
The Seecamp is recommended for only Federal or Winchester.

I would like to find some Winchester ST HP in the 50 box. I have them on order at about 3 places, nothing yet.

Otherwise I am set.

Try some Golden Sabers I had trouble with them in my 9mm pointy little devils.
I think at 102 gr they are the heaviest thing in .380.

200 rounds to being broken in....and it has to be with your carry round. Let's see $180 to break in. Oh, and you have to start over after each FTF, FTE etc.:banghead:;)
Kahr customer service person for RMA used to be Dot (Dorothy) I think they wore her out though. Probably someone new by now.

So I just registered the other day but I have been spending time here for a while. I've stayed mum up to this point, but I have got to know if anyone knows a shop in the Houston area that has the all black PM9 or CW9? I actually like them both...just depends on what the price is as to which I buy.

I got mine about 2 years ago from Davidsons in Prescott Arizona. They ship to a local dealer and give you a lifetime guarantee.

Mine has the blackened stainless slide and night sites and if I remember correctly I paid $649 for it on sale.

You can contact Davidsons at 6100 WILKINSON DRIVE, PRESCOTT, ARIZONA 86301 928-776-8055 and see if they have a dealer near you they work with.

I purchased a Taurus pistol from them a few years ago and it quit working on the second magazine. I called them and they told me to wait one day and bring the pistol back to the dealer they work with in my area. The next day I brought the pistol to the dealer and they already had a new pistol waiting for me. Davisons shipped it UPS overnight and that is the best service I've ever had and also one of the best pistols I've purchased too.:)

Before I forget, the Lifetime replacement warranty is from Davidsons, not Kahr.

I am really interested in the P380, so please remember to post back here as to your opinions/range report.

Yes the P238 is a wonderful little Sig. Too bad mine has never worked reliably - currently back at Sig AGAIN - Hope it just gets replaced so I can get rid of it and get the P380. I know the Sig is wonderful, trust me I bought it too, I have just long ago lost faith in it.

Man I'm sorry to hear that Flint Ridge; dang! :(

So am I incorrect - this thing is 14 oz, not 11 oz? I had in my head that it was 11 or 12, not much more than the Ruger or Taurus, but a bit more than the KelTec.

The spec's above are PM9

I will try a cut and paste job from the website, sorry if it get's jumbled.

P380 is 10 oz empty
