Well, I know I missed a great deal

manwithoutahome,

Before you start acting as if it is the fault of the members of this board that you missed out on a good deal, how about stepping back, taking a breath, and thinking about a few things.

First of all, lennyjoe posted a reply 3 hours and 12 minutes after your initial post. His reply was 2 hours and 1 minute before you started this thread. If, as you stated, you missed the deal by 10 minutes, that's still 1 hour and 51 minutes AFTER lennyjoe posted his reply.

Second, THR is a great source of info. However, nowhere does it say that the members of this board owe you anything in the way of expert opinions regarding the prices of firearms. The fact that some here are able to give such advice is a blessing at times, but it is NEVER required.

Third, it is pretty hard to expect that at any time of the day, someone who knows what the particular object of your desire might be worth will be browsing that particular forum. The people on this board do have lives. They aren't just here to serve you or anyone else, just because you want some help immediately. The thirty hits may be because your thread title was rather incomplete. Maybe if you titled it "I need a price on a Kimber Pro Carry.", less people may have looked at it. I know I wouldn't have, as I don't rightly know what one should be worth.

Fourth, if it's immediate help you need with regards to pricing a firearm, let me suggest two avenues of approach. 1) Buy a Blue Book of Gun Values - they aren't that expensive, 2) check out some of the online auction sights such as gunbroker and auction arms.

Sorry you missed out on a good deal. However, it is, in my opinion, immature to blame the other members of this board for your misfortunes.

Frank

Life is SOOO unfair at times, no?

I've never felt the need to consult anyone for a purchase of a firearm. If I can afford it and feel the purchase is right... for me... I'll buy it. Or not.

Obviously YMMV.

In the future. If you want it, may I suggest you buy it? Regardless of what others think?

and how is your ignorance of the value of that gun the fault of this board?

You may have had thirty hits. But did it occur to you that maybe the first 30 peopel that read your post didnt know anymore than you?
I often read post to learn, I often dont answer questions simply because I do not know the answer.

You dirty rats! None of you people told me to save my dimes and pennies when I was in the 6th grade to buy transferable machineguns for 1% what they are worth now! :neener:

I don't know much about Kimbers, except that they look nice. That price sounds reasonable to me. I know a little more about Glocks, just because I am about to buy a G19. Sorry more people couldn't get back with you in time. I know where you are coming from about the post seniority though, but for the most part I think the senior guys are willing to help us less-senior guys though.

Honestly, the time waiting for people to respond could have been spent on researching more on the gun?

And since, if you didn't get responses about the Kimber and know how much to expect to pay, how would you know that it was a great deal you missed?

Seriously, blaming the members of THR is like blaming the teacher that your bicycle got stolen.

Anyways, sorry you missed out on the deal, it was a good price if it was in good to great condition. I just took my Kimber Series I to go introduce a friend to the sport along w/ a few other guns. The Kimber is still my favorite shooter.

Another person has brought back the High Road, as for those that have replied (except that one person), please double check yourself before you believe yourself to be superior, only those on this thread, you've lowered youself to my level, and you hate me so therefore, you are no better than I.

No wayne, the people on this road have taken the high road. They simply defended their fellow board members from you unfounded attack. Part of the high road is taking personal resonsibility for yourself. and taking responsibility to defend the inocent.

I have never asked a question here that was not EVENTUALLy answered. Not everyone who reads your post will know the answer to your question.

I am by no means a celebrity and have fewer posts even than you, yet i got responses in this thread

It just takes time

BTW, you have changed your reply about 3 times in the last hour. your first reply was "I bought the damn gun" this after cursing us for your losing the gun. so did you lose it, or did you buy it and are suffereing remorse?

Here's a tip...

Spend less time obsessing over a missed purchase, and more time making sure you took your medication.

If you are unhappy with the results you are receiving here at The High Road, just e-mail Oleg, so he can refund all the money you spent to join.

Grow up
Did you miss the deal or not ? First you say you lost a deal and blame everybody but yourself, then you say you bought the gun and if it is a lemon then it's everybody's fault but your's . Do you honestly expect to ever be taken seriously again.
maybe they should catch a clue, or a life.
maybe you should be looking in a mirror next time you catch that thought

maybe they should catch a clue, or a life.

We do have a life, that's why a lot of us cant come and cater to all of the questions asked on these message forums.

Plus please understand that many times the people that view a thread are also guests, so they dont have the option to answer your question unless they register for this forum.

Maybe a lot the replies were uncalled for to you, but your response was also uncalled for. Dont blame people for your mistakes.

So I can honestly say, that if I get a bad 1911, it is the boards fault, because I did ask.

And I need to catch a clue?

Someone needs a time out, and then a nap.

Man I guess! I've never seen anyone blame everyone else before because they didn't help him fast enough - unbelieveable. Dude, if I need info in a hurry the last thing I'm gonna do is sit here, wait for posts and then whine when they don't show up. I've got friends on this board to PM or email, and gun shops to call. I've got websites that sell guns where I can compare prices! You should have been looking up this stuff yourself.

Two words:

"Personal Responsibility"

We are all ultimately responsible for our own actions. So.....you chose not to act hastily and you missed a good deal. The odds say that most times when people act on impulse they get screwed. You win some, you lose some.

Besides with 11,000+ members, there are likely HUNDREDS (maybe thousands) here that know little about the Kimber 1911. 30 hits of people who probably didn't know enough about the topic and had the integrity to keep their mouth shut.
