New to me - I scored a Marlin Camp 9!!! Found a Marlin Camp Carbine in 9mm for $350 and swiped it. 98% with a cheap but cool little scope, 1 mag and original box. I think I got a decent deal but was most happy just to find it. Can't wait to shoot 'er.

Now where is his big brother in .45???

Oh, I did order a new buffer. Do I need a 16 or 21lb Wolf spring?

I have the .45

Yep, I have the big brother, ANIB and shot maybe two boxes of ammo through it before I rescued it.

I don't think anybody's going to be taking it from me for $350, though.

You will need the 21-pound Wolff spring. Even with that, you will find that wimpy loads will pound into the buffer - it's a straight blowback design. My Camp9 with the heavy spring will cycle with rounds that won't cycle in my pistols.

That kinda tells you that you should buy TWO buffers. That way when your first one's bit the dust you can use your 'spare' while waiting for the next one to come in the mail.

Yep, the little carbine's a lot of fun, but it was NOT built like a military weapon. My 9mm broke its buffer after no more than 300 rounds - and when the buffer breaks (at least the way mine did) you are DONE until you replace it.

The folks over at the Marlin Forum recommend a 16 (actually 16.5) lb recoild spring for the 9mm, and a 21lb recoil spring for the 45 version. You got a good deal on that gun, but you should field-strip it before shooting it(Which you have to do to replace the spring&buffer anyway).
Now getcha some 30-rd mags(the Camp 9 uses S&W Model 59 mags) and go blasting!

EDIT: Heh, nice timing. BTW, check the Hammer Strut Bridge for damage when you strip the gun.

blackjack buffers makes marlin buffers, get a few and get a heavier spring, you WILL crack the stock if you do not.
