Just for kicks, I decided to take the magazine extension off of my Supernova and put the original spring and nut back on. That's when I noticed something - the spring I was storing was shorter than the spring that was in the gun. I think I somehow managed to switch them when I was installing the extension, because the spring that was in the magazine tube was only as long as the magazine tube with the extension!
The gun cycled just fine, but I always wonderd why it was that when I manually unloaded it, the last round would just barely pop out of the tube and I'd have to pull it out myself. I think I just found my answer.
