I went to the gun show today looking for a 6.5mm Carcano. Well, I went the first round and found a 7.35mm M38. I probably overpaid for it at $320, but the guy gave me 2 boxes of ammo, factory-loaded into en-bloc clips with the rifle. It is very clean (I'd say better than 90%), all numbers matching and has a very crisp Cartouche on the buttstock. I decided to go around the show once more just in case I missed something. Low and behold, I had overlooked the M91 6.5mm Rifle the first go-around, as it was in the midst of many Mosin 91/30's (which have a strikingly similar appearance when all piled together). I managed to talk that one down to $160. It does not have the original stock (or at least the numbers don't match), but is very clean nonetheless. BTW, that 780mm barrel is freakin' long! Anyway, I walked one more time just to be sure I hadn't missed either of the 6.5mm carbine versions and went home with two very clean Mannlicher-Carcano rifles and ammo for under $500. I think I done OK. I know the Carcano's aren't terribly popular, but I like them and they are becoming difficult to find.

Now the new challenge: finding a steady supply of .298" bullets...........

I don't have hi-speed or a picture host, but the top and bottom photo's here are exactly what I found.
