Some friends took me out to a small local range this weekend. There were a few hunters there zeroing in, other than that it was just us. My friend Matt brought a Bushmaster AR-15 carbine, with a short shrouded barrel and shortened front grip-thingy (sorry, don't know the technical term! ) My friend Jeff brought his Springfield 1903. I had fired the Bushy before but not the 1903. It was a blast!
Matt seemed to enjoy putting lots of rounds downrange quickly, but I took my time lining up each shot and breathing. I think I paid more attention a few years ago when we learned to shoot M-16's in ROTC than he did...
The 1903 kicked less than I was expecting, but still quite a lot more than the AR. It was a hoot to shoot, but Jeff only had the foresight to bring 40 rounds of .30-06, which really didn't last too long.
Sorry for the lack of pics, but it was a lot of fun, I just had to share!
