Yeah so I finally went to the range over the weekend. I bought my rifle like 3 months ago maybe 4, anyway been putting it off and I finally went.
Fist time shooting a high power rifle, I did better than expected. Also this was my first time shooting on a 100yrd range. The target paper was measuring about 16"x48" so you figure it was pretty small out there, using the scope I have, a 3-9x adjustable. I found that I had to skip the 3-8x and go to the 9x magnefication. Anyway, one thing I noticed was while I had done my homework before going to the range, there was a few things I didn't know. One was while I can completely control my breathing, it was my heart beat that was making the crosshairs bounce. Everytime it would beat they (crosshairs) would bounce all over the target.
Second a 30-06' kicks alot harder than expected. More so than a normally loaded 12 gauge in my opinion. And even if you guys disagree, you have to agree that the feeling of recoil is completely different in the 30-06' than the 12 gauge.
Anyway all in all I had a blast, and am going back as soon as I can afford another box of ammo. Which I've noticed has come down in price within the last 3-4 months. I think? Maybe I just got ripped off. I paid like $21 for a box of Remington 165gr. Core-lokt ammo in 30-06' 3-4 months ago, wallyworld now has it for 11.87 a box!! That's a big price drop. That smiley face guy with the hat and sword is doing one heck of a job!! LOL!!
