Went with LCR357 instead

Everything told me to stay with the J frame 642. However I felt a wild hair and really liked the LCR357 when I went to the range this morning. I like the ability to shoot the 357 even though most of my shooting will be 38spcl. The pistol just spoke to my hand more gently then the 642. The trigger was smooth and efficient. I guess time will tell on the durability. Seems Ok from what I am reading.

I think that is a great choice I have had mine for over a head and a half and I really enjoy it pocket carry is my favorite way to carry it

Agree, a good "gumsmith" isn't cheap these days.

This, I went for the .38 spec personally. If a .38 +P doesn't do the job, a .357 won't either.

The jury is still out, but what we're starting to learn is that a steel-frame snubbie delivers all the recoil back into your hand, wrist, and arm. Part of the fun.

The polymer j-frames seem to absorb some amount of the recoil, providing a better shooting experience. Provided that flame-cutting isn't an issue, this may be a case where technology has improved on a classic design.

Having the 38 Spl. here, would like someday to get the 357 mag. I find the LCR to be a natural pointer. And yes, the trigger is very good.

I once had a 642. I won't say I hated, or even disliked it. It just didn't work well for me. Something about the geometry of the gun and my hand didn't match up nicely at all.

Now I have my LCR (but mine is the .38), and I love it. Trigger is smoother, recoil is softer, and I can shoot the gun more accurately and more quickly than I cold with the 642.
Now, it's nowhere near as fast nor as accurate as my govt' model 1911. BUT for a tiny revolver, i can't complain at all.

I went with the 360PD. It is super light and handles both .38 and .357. Because it is light, it is a handful though. I wouldn't mind getting the LCR with the exposed hammer.

I've got the LCR 38 Spcl +P and really like it. It has the CT grips which, I think, help my old eyes find the target and help me place shots accurately and efficiently. On some days, I think that I should have gotten the .357. But I find shooting full throated .357 rounds out of my GP 100 4" and SP101 2.25" revolvers to be headache inducing. While I like the versatility of being able to shoot .357 and 38 spcl in the .357 revolvers, I have the same mindset as Bush Pilot -- if the 38 +Ps can't do it, I'm in trouble.

I bought the LCR357 because they had a used one in good condition cheaper than the .38 model new. And also as I said, I shoot mostly .38 out of it anyway. I kind of liked the extra metal frame in the 357 model as well. LCR357, Box, original paperwork, and pouch was $365. S/N says manufactured in 2012. How did I do?

Been nagging the wife to get one. Saw a very lightly used one with the fiber optic sight and she wanted the night to think about it... she decided not to the next morning. I've since decided that she needs her CCW so I can push her on an impulse buy the next time I see it at a good price. She's wanted a revolver for a year, might as well get the ruger she likes. She thought the trigger was still heavy, but I want to work her fingers out a little and make some mouse fart loads for her. I know she'll love it! I'm glad you have one, I'm jealous!!
