It's NOT over. ENRAGED leftists will be back, and among other things will specifically target the courageous Democrats who voted against this monstrosity. This is a never ending struggle and you can BET they are planning ever more attacks on your rights. They've already shown that there are NO limits to how low they'll go to further their agenda. Especially taking their lead from the dispicable (Saul Alinsky)tactics of obama.

Voted yes, but leading up to the Heller decision was the most stressfull for me.
The whole collective right vs individual right, banning of whole types of firearms, effective complete ban by legislative entanglement, etc was in that debate

Depends on what state you live in. In Colorado, the stress continues. We were forced to panic; 15+ capacity magazines becoming restricted July 1st caused me to spend money I never intended to spend on several dozen magazines that I never intended to acquire so hastily. I didn't pay panic prices but I had to jump on some opportunities that I otherwise would have seen little point in. It's been a lousy four months but it could be worse.

This. I was really disturbed by the naysayers who kept spouting off about how paranoid all the "scare tactics" were. We knew that the extreme leftists were keeping a low profile on firearms and would leap at any chance to work against the Second Amendment.
Yet these naysayers were saying things like, "they don't have the political capital to do it," and "they have other things, like the economy, to worry about besides guns" and kept throwing the tinfoil hat accusations around. "After all, didn't they remove the gun plank from their platform?" was one of the scariest statements making the rounds on the gun boards. As if that took gun control off the table completely
Well, fellows, you were wrong, and many of us "tin foil hat wearers" knew that in this period between 2008 and now, it would happen exactly as it has in these last four months.
With the great piles of money being thrown into the struggle, the cooperation of a generally leftist media, the highly sophisticated tactics and strategies of the extreme left, the continuing appointment of compliant judges (even at the lower levels), you can bet your bottom dollar that the next great tragedy will trigger another onslaught against the core amendment of freedom.
Keep thinking otherwise, keep throwing accustations of paranoia around, keep thinking "it can't happen in America," and guess what?
The past four months will happen again and again until...

I haven't been too stressed about ammo as I stocked up on some last summer, wish I had a bit more 22lr on hand though. I did get a bit exhausted by the time and energy spent fighting the state and federal gun grabbers. I'm glad to have a short break on the federal level at least.

Actually the first 2 months were...Full blown panic on my part fearing the absolute worst.
There was word of a new American revolution, forced buy backs, confiscation, "Assault Weapons" becoming NFA items and much other stuff, it felt to me it was a full blown war against the liberty loving people of the US.
but...IT'S NOT OVER YET! Obummer is threatning executive action on the background check stuff!

Excellent post, and not just because you carried on my theme.
It is a fact, not opinion that many a naysayer was wrong, yet I do not see a bunch of "I was wrong" threads authored by them as an act of contrition.
I'm tempted to either start a poll to allow them to acknowledge they were wrong, or even do research to ferret them out, and confront them with their misguided views which turned out to be dead wrong.

It's been absolutely horrible for us here in Central New Yorkistan. We used to be able to buy 223/5.56 ammo in different flavors in a dozen different stores any time we wanted to pre Sandy Hook/obama's second election win. Now only one store gets some in every once in a while. Once it's in it's sold out that day.
It was the same way with AR15 10 round magazines too. Once adolf cuomo and his gang said that we will still be able to buy 10 rd. mags. instead of the newly required 7 rd. mags. limit as the NY UNSAFE Act says, they're starting to stay on some stores shelves here and there. Hopefully ammo will start to do the samething soon.

I am having a hard time understanding why the New England states which were the pioneers of liberty have been raked over the coals on the gun laws. This really doesnt make any sense. CT, MA , NY, NJ , MD?? I mean what has happened here? These were the homes of the sons of liberty. The Boston Tea Party, The shot heard round the world. The residences of the founders who drafted our constitution.

1994, was much worse because as we all know nobody in congress would really vote for a gun ban. Just like President Bush would never sign a bill that banned any guns. Yes that is as silly as the ideal that President Reagan would sign a gun control law.

It's a minor inconvenience not being able to shoot my .38 special I bought in December or get dies for it, but I have other guns.

Nope, been here done it before. Just another(big) battle down. Plenty more to come. The anti's will keep trying. Matter of fact I expect they'll try to slip a bill thru the Senate in the next few weeks since the eyes are now off of them.

Forget 4 months. I know from very recent experience 6 months or more. Last year and again this year. Latest was 9/17 - 3/14.
