West Virginia One Gun a Month proposal

How long until you can buy only one book, or one newspaper, or listen to one hour of "state approved" news each month?

Stand up to this one, and voice your concern along the lines that this creeping encroachment of your civil rights won't stop with guns. Remind your neighbors that gun control is all about control.

On a lighter note, two years ago I participated in a "one gun per month" experiment for one year. I failed, miserably, since instead of 12 I purchased 15!

I doubt this will go anywhere.

Do believe this has been proposed in WV before.

It was passed in Charleston, and prompted a State bill prohibiting cities from doing that.

It was on the news (WBOY) at 6pm and 11pm, but just a short segment.

Well, if 43 Democrats in the Senate had their way, political bloggers would have to register with the Federal Government or face criminal charges. So not long, if you let 'em.

I emailed a NRA-rated A+ legislator earlier today. He called me this evening and told me not to worry about it. It's DOA.

Illinois was/will be considering such a law.

I am firmly against a "one gun a month" law

I'm not sure I can afford it!

I mean buying one gun every month is going to add up!:neener:

South Carolina (1st or 2nd lowest education rate in the USA) was smart enough to drop that law 3 years ago. At least we're educated enough to see how irrelevant of a law it was.
Pass that one on to your legislators...

Pennsylvania legislators have been proposing the same law. WV is the next door neighbor. It probably won't go anywhere in the legislature, but I would keep an eye on it.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Maryland has a 1 gun per month law, and Baltimore is one of the safest cities in the country. . . right?:banghead:

"Buy a Gun a Month! - It's the Law!"

On a more serious note, we have this in maryland with regard to 'regulated' weapons - so called "assault weapons" and all handguns.

It's really hard to budget all of it! Three Months have elapsed since I turned 21, and three guns I have purchased. I don't know if I can keep it up. :D

Maryland does have a mitigating factor, however. If you apply for designated "collector status" the 30 day limit goes away.
