I just bought a Westernfield 12 ga Pump SG from a pawn shop for $135.00 and of course tax added brought it to $150.00 OUT THE DOOR.

It's in pretty good shape, and has what I THINK is called a poly choke. It's fixed to the outside of the barrel and is rather large, To adjust the choke the outside portion is turned either clock - or counter clock to open or close the choke.

The gun has to be made by Mossberg because the safety and pump release "button" are identical to what Moss puts out.
It feels pretty good in my hand, comes to the shoulder naturally and swings nicely. Although no shotgun I've ever used feels like my Winchester Model 12 and both 1300's one a Defender and the other a turket model.
But for the price it's a great SG for keeping stashed away behind the bed for quick & easy access while the others are locked away in the cabinet.

Anyone know anything about these shotguns?

i"d say thats a pretty good deal, cant hardly find anything under 150.00 anymore, havn"t seen one in a while.i bet she can do the job of what any other brand for more money can.

augustino,

There are a lot of 'store brand' or 'hardware store' shotguns out there, made by well known companies with some chain's name on them. The practice is pretty old, but seems to have died down a good bit in modern years.

There are several lists on the web that tell who made what guns for whom- see http://www.gunnersden.com/index.htm.gun-cross-reference-index.html for one example.

The 'store brand' guns are often marked lower on the used rack than their manufacturer branded siblings- I make it a point to look for them when helping someone shop for an inexpensive but reliable shotgun.

Sounds like you did OK with that one...
