What’s the skinny on a 700

Right, the X pro trigger can only be adjusted to 3.5 to 4 lbs. On my stock SPS the Walker trigger was usable as it was. I wanted out of the trigger dance. So it was changed out. That is, changed despite my strong feelings on the Walker trigger. So far as I could tell that SPS trigger had not been fiddled with. Right, there are several options to individuals who wish to continue using the 700's. For those of use who have used these rifles for years all this flaming of Remington flunks the smell test. The comments on the Python was to illustrate Bubba on steroids.

I just made a purchase of a "used" new takeoff x-mark pro trigger. I was not intending to dump any money into my 700, but I have had some nightmares recently about going hunting and shooting off body parts without touching the trigger. I know it's irrational, but the extremely vivid dreams got me to reading more about the xmark replacement offers. At 22 bucks I feel like I did well enough because I intended to rip the trigger out anyway as soon as I got it because now the xmark recall was bothering me.

So now, a week waiting on a package, and a thorough cleaning of the new trigger before it gets installed. If it's not already a serviceable hunting trigger, I will stone it and polish it as needed.

Now the big question is, what do I do with the walker trigger? Keep it so the rifle can be put back in original condition is a no-brainer, but I suddenly feel the urge to build an xp100 from a virgin reciever. That's WAY out of my price range at the moment though.

What did you pay for the X-mark? I yanked mine out in favor of a Timney and it's just sitting in a box on my safe...

Tell ya though, that Tim is niiiice....

It happens. Do any shooting with a Remington and you will accumulate parts. I found four 700 or 40X triggers in my stuff. There has never been an aftermarket trigger installed here yet. Can it be that these Remington parts reproduce in the dark of night?

19 bucks plus 3.50 shipping. Cheaper and easier than the other options. I would have spent $22 bucks or more just rezeroing the rifle if I had pulled my scope off to send it in. This way I don’t have to pull scope off, I don’t have to fool with shipping it, I don’t have to worry about Remington jacking around and losing my rifle, and I don’t have to wait weeks to get it back. I think that even though I’m paying for something I could get free, it’s money well spent in this case.

So what your saying is that remingtons are somehow intertwined with ARs and the simple fact of having one will mysteriously cause part accumulation.

Can't comment since I have not had an AR since before the advent of forward assist. Sure seems to work for Remington's. Seems to work on muzzle loaders also. I also have this pile of Ruger rings that came from some where. Also, top straps for Weaver rings-that means no bottoms.

Bought a Timney last week to avoid the recall dance. Now I've got another on order and am returning the first one. Because....I forgot my Remmy 700 is a lefty-safety and stupidly didn't realize they wouldn't be interchangable. Figured it out when the stated direction to drive the pins out didn't seem to jive with the older trigger group in my hands...oops. Would you believe the pins drive in from opposite directions in lefty and righty triggers?
