What age to start kids shooting

At what age did you start your kids shooting?? My daughter is 7, goes to the range with me and is now wanting to shoot. Her mother says NO WAY (its her baby) !!!

What do you guys think ?? What is a good age to get them started ?

My five, seven and nine year olds all shoot pretty well. But I'm a firm believer that the parents should use their discretion and carefully consider the disposition of the individual child.

Does your daughter's mother have any sound reasons for her hesitation, or is she just manifesting anti-gun sentiment and/or unsupported fear?

Depends on the child being responsible and focused enough to do it safely.

My daughter is 6 and she's old enough now.

Shooting age aside, a lot of firearm cleaning chemicals are pretty harsh.
If your child is going to be cleaning guns, decent skin/respiratory/eye protection is a consideration.
