After my last manufacturer losing my form 4 paperwork :banghead: I will be going through it all again. I would like to know some of the better dealers or manufacturers of supressors for my HK Tact. .45

Thanks,
Jason

One thing you might want to consider is the cost of a .45 can vs a whole new .22 set-up. I wanted a 40s&w can, but for the price of the .40 can alone you can get a p22, can, and tax stamp. Trust me once you get a can your ammo use will skyrocket:)

Being that Missouri just became a suppressor state (or will, on August 28), I am also interested in finding out who makes a good suppressor. Never thought it was worth shopping for until now.

This is a complex question, with a multifaceted answer.

Consider the following criteria (in no particular order):

1. build quality/construction techniques
2. sound reduction
3. attachment method (more important for rifle)
4. serviceability (critical for 22LR)
5. boostered vs unboostered (critical for most pistols)

My personal opinion on bad qualities: Some manufacturers are running with really out dated cans. Others are built very poorly and are sold at top flight prices. Others wobble when mounted using fast-attach methods. Some 22LR cans dont open for service and are made of aluminum, rendering them impossible to clean effectively. Some manufacturers are happy to sell you a pistol can that lacks a booster and will turn a reliable pistol into a jam-o-matic. Others just sell a loud ass can and call it gravy.

My personal opinion on good qualities: Rifle cans that are welded together for strenght. Pistol cans that have boosters for reliability. 22 cans that are made of steel and come apart for cleaning. Fast-attach methods that lock-up right as a thread-mount and don't unscrew. Sound reduction is secondary to reliability, and longevity.

My personal likes: AAC and SWR. My personal dislikes: Gemtech.

head on over to silencertalk.com and silencerresearch.com and do some research. Take everything you hear with a grain of salt.

I have a Tac-65 (www.tacticalinc.com) and I am waiting for paper work for my new purchase Gemtech Piranah .223.

I cannot speak for other brands because I have never tried them. However, I chose Gemtech over AAC because of the trailer trash talk AAC has been spewing toward Gemtech. Gemtech has taken the high road and not sunken to that level. Too bad too because I heard AAC has some really nice product.

There's a lot of new manufacturers out with some very innovative cans. However, I chose to buy from someone who has been in business for a while.

Whatever you choose, once you've shot with a can you'll never want to shoot without one again.

As far as for the HK USP Tactical, I have the Impuls II made by CCF-Swiss. It was designed as I'm told specifically for that gun. So far mine has been 100% reliable as far as feeding and cycling the gun. When shot wet you do not need hearing protection. Most of my friends who have shot it can't believe that it is a .45 they are shooting.
I think that if you stick with any of the well known name brands out there you will be happy. The technology available puts them all pretty close to each other as far as performance goes.
