www.sportingarms.com

:D

 Went to this website and was not impressed at all! No pics of what you are buying and looked like standard retail prices! Did I miss something? Are you telling me that you go to this site before going to the Auctionarms, gunbroker or gunsamerica? What makes it the "BEST"? Their sale and preowned section does not have 1/100 of the deals that our own Trading post forum has here or any other forum trading floor.

I am not trying to bash anyone, I am new to online buying and new to this forum, but I am looking and want to find the best deals and am really asking for help.

If I am wrong about this website please let me know but after looking at it, I would think you own it and are trying to get free publicity.

Again, please understand I am not tryin to to be an ASS, nor am I trying to keep people from responding to my posts or questions by bashing them. I am just trying to keep people from promoting or putting info into a reply that is not helpful information.

http://www.sportingarms.com is one of the major firearms distributors. The websites like Auctionarms, gunbroker, or gunsamerica are auction sites so sometimes you get deals if you know what you are doing and looking for.

CALIBER

You didn't specify a "caliber", and "best" is subjective. Sporting Arms is a reputable dealer. They don't always have the best price, but they are competitive on many firearms that are available. I have personally only purchased one gun from them, but I was satisfied and would deal with them again. Bud's Gun Shop has good prices on things that they have in stock, but their website isn't whizz bang fancy. If I want to know details on or see pictures of a firearm, I go to the manufacturer's website.

People have given you several listings based on the original question you asked, which had very little details. I think you will find few major online retail distributors that have better deals on a consistent basis that what you will find from an individual.

I am just trying to keep people from promoting or putting info into a reply that is not helpful information.

This is very humorous, considering your first post promotes a commercial website at the bottom that has nothing to do with firearms. (woot.com, writeup by PC Magazine, which you list as your occupation.)

Maybe you should seek help elsewhere before flaming those of us giving you suggestions, because your last post did most certainly come off as asinine. Fortunately THR has one excellent feature that is worth paying for. It's the function allowing you to ignore posts from specific users. :)

Happy New Year!

THR's buy sale trade forum is good, also sigforum.com's buy sale trade board has a quite a few respectable and honest sellers, everyone over there is very friendly and knowledgable, you can also not buy online with these folks anything requiring the FFL paperwork, but you can view online and request a catalog in the mail and they always have some good deals on stuff, anything that is firearm related and not requiring the paperwork is available online for sale direct, I have always looked forward to viewing thier catalogs, check it out

Ok, I work for a Specailty Wholesale Distributor outside of the firearm industry. This being said every standard distributor trys to sell to us but I can beat their prices all day long on the internet paying retail. Their deals are just standard everyday deals that are provided to retailers like bestbuy, frys electronics, circuit city, etc... they are not great deals. So that being said, a standard wholesale distributor is not the best place to look for deals on a daily basis because there are mapped prices set by the manufacturer.

Example:

Sporting Arms HK USP 40 cal blued pistol best price $689.00 http://www.sportingarms.com/results...max_price=&keyword_descr=&B1=Submit&page_no=1

CDNN Great Example HK USP 40 cal Stainless Pistol $579.00 Down Load PDF

I gave examples of what I was looking for by the 3 sites I posted so I thought it was kind of clear. So that being said, are there other sites besides the 3 that I listed that are not standard wholesale distributors to find good good deals in surplus, preowned, reconditioned, or close out firearm deals?

As far as my occupation that was a typo and will change it shortly. I type on multiple screens and didn't realize I was typing on this screen when I was trying to type on another. This happens daily at work when people send instant messages. They hijack the screen I was typing in. My occupation is not woot.com it is VP of Purchasing and daily it is my job to research the going prices and market value of products in every Consumer electronic and computer related category. As far as bashing people I think you can see that I was trying to ask for help and I was not trying to bash which I stated in my post. I did however BOLD 2 wrong sentences which we not meant to be bold typed and will fix that as well. Thank you for informing me of my errors. As for ignoring my "asinine posts?" that is your choice. I was simply trying to ask for assistance which I stated more than once. Thank you for your help.

Hey Chaser, Welcome to THR. One thing that you will see as you frequent this forum is that we old timers try to be helpful even when the question is not very detailed. You asked about buying and selling and gave 3 examples of sites. Some responded with sites that you didn't think met your criteria, but simply giving examples of what you have already checked out is not necessarily giving specific enough criteria.

Case in point. Someone suggested CDNN Investments. They are a close-out type distributor and I would not consider them to be like the 3 you listed, but they are a good place to buy, since many on this and other forums have bought from them.

Remember, the info you get here is free, so if you spend a few minutes checking out what someone suggests and it doesn't work for you, please don't get defensive. poppy

I second that! I've had very good success buying and selling.

www.glocktalk.com's classified area is pretty good, too.

They've got some good NFA stuff, too, if you're one of those abnormally rich people. :p

ImpactGuns.com is a great great site to reference pn's,variations etc. They sell about mfg out there. Their prices arent that bad at all either. Yeah sur you could probably find the same gun locally a tad bit cheaper but the chances of them having the exact same gun you want is slim. Especially if your one to buy the not norm.

Some good suggestions here so far, but if you want more responses I would suggest toning the attitude down a notch or three.

CDNN and Impact are good reputable establishments, I have purchased from both quite a few times. The auction sites are a crapshoot. As an example, I see RIA 1911's on gunbroker for $400.00 when even my local gunshops send them out for under $300.00 easily. FALs are usually ridiculous on those sites as well, but PTR-91's are priced okay normally.

No one site has the best prices on everything. Bud's gun shop has great Springfield Armory prices, they're not always so good on other makes though.

Thanks poppy & NineseveN.

Point well taken and appreciated. However I wasn't trying to show attitude or bash a member.

??? though, Is it the fact that I bold typed lines or used italics the problem? Because I am rereading the original post and realize I needed to be more specific as to what I was looking for and also realize that my comment about (promoting/caliber) was abrupt to Majik and I appolgize, I should have been more specific before stating that. But remove those 2 sentences and what do you think? Is the Bold type and Italics what show attitude? Combo of those 2 sentences with Bold? To use Bold or not to use Bold, That is my question?

hey chaser

you lookin for new modern day stuff

or like milsurp old stuff?

just wondering as theres quite a few good C and R resources on the web

I concur the tone should be turned down a bit.

Advise is free here, and my experience is folks will gladly help if the question is presented properly.

Chaser:
I re-read your posts, and the items that stuck a little in my craw were:
-bolding
-Your statement "Please do not try and promote websites that are clearly not in the CALIBER of what I am asking for." Came across as arrogant, as if your tastes were higher than the other praticipants.
-Referencing your background. Most folks don't care you are the VP of Procurement.

A better tact might have been to wait a bit, see what shows up, do some additional research, and come back with a response such as:

"Thanks for the great replies folks. I also did some poking around over the weekend, and came across these additional sites......."

My sense is this would have been better received...

I think the original post is fine, it was more your response to Majik (who is honestly a pretty cool cat) here "I would think you own it and are trying to get free publicity."

That kind of thing tends to lead to nasty responses and we do try to avoid that here (though I go off the handle probably more than anyone else, I'm the problem child you see  ).

But hey, it's just advice, I think you get it.

Ok everyone thanks for your comments and contributions. I have removed all my bold and italics from the post in question as I see now I do not know when to use them. I also removed the promoting and think you own the website comment and sent Majik an apology via private message. I edited it now because I want more websites listed.

Thanks for all your feedback. Sites I have found that have surplus, closeouts, refurb deals, and that I frequent are CDnnsports.com, kyimports.com, Southernohiogun.com, gunbroker.com, gunsamerica.com, auctionarms.com, shootersexchange.com, impactguns.com now. Any other sites like this I have for gotten or forums I should visit?

Thumbs up to Chaser

I received a PM for an apology, I can see that he's a good guy. But oddly enough, I wasn't even offended by his reply. Hmm... maybe its just the holiday spirit and I'm giddy from seeing my family happy, or that I know that the people on this site are all good people.

Stick around Chaser, I know you'll be a wealth of information in short time.

Happy New Year everyone! :)

Chaser, I think you have just about already sniffed out the very info you were after :)

There might be another place or two someone might be able to mention but I think you got it covered there buddy :D

I can tell you this, over at sigforum.com theres a guy called ordnanceoutsellers.com The guy is named James and he has some helluva deals on SIG pistols if your ever after a SIG. He also has other stuff besides SIG and people over there think very highly of him so some of these Gunshop folks frequent the Buy/Sale/Trade boards and sell quite a bit that way. Which is good, sometimes you get a better deal just because your XYZ poster from some board. Its probably the same way here on the THR buy/sale/trade section but I dont look in there too much. Can't afford to ;) I already get myself into enough trouble with the local haunts around here and the gun shows.

Glad everyone could come to an agreement and get along. Its great to have a place like this to share and converse with like minded others.

Best of luck finding what ever it is your looking for.

Cheers
J
