Since Unca Ted has made a little news here with his remarks at the NRA convention, I think that it would be a good opportunity to discuss, "Upgrade". Upgade is Nugent's concept of every gun owner/sporstman/conservationist as having a moral responsibility to recruit, instruct and promote our lifestyle.

So the question is what can you do this week to promote gunownership and safety?

Personally, I will be teaching hunter education to 25 young people.

I am a firm believer that if we set concrete, doable goals for recruiting, we can change the face this nation to what it was meant to be.

I'm breeding and raising little gunnuts. It's easier to start them off right than to reeducate them. Although, I do my best to present a positive image to the non-believers.

Yesterday afternoon, I was upstairs putting my shotgun away after my dad and I shot a few rounds of wobble and trap. When my wife, daughter, and mom walked in, I called down to them. My daughter (19months old) told my wife "daddy's with his guns". Made me smile when I heard about that. :D

I try to do my part. I have introduced 3 new people to guns in the past month. 2 of thoes are really getting into it. I also introuced my girlfriend to it, and now she wants a Sig P226 for some reason. I knew teaching her would lead to her wanting something high dollar.

I would say if everyone would introduce 1 person a month, and donate 1 day a month to clean up the ranges we do have (skeet, rilfe, pistol) our hobbie/sport would be a lot better.

Infecting my friends and family with my breathless enthusiasm towards firearms and shooting. I'm a newcomer to this (about a year now), and perhaps that's why the people I've known forever seem to be taking another look at the subject. They wonder what changed my mind and what makes it so compelling to me.

In fact, I've got one of my former roommates stopping by to go shoot on his way back from a wedding next weekend! Now that's a man with his priorities in order. ;)

Oh, and I converted my dad and brother. They weren't anti, but they didn't own any guns either. My dad has several handguns, a shotgun, and a 10/22. He's getting ready to start his first AR build. My brother bought and Ak and joined the NRA. Four years ago, they didn't have any guns.

My mom and sisters were some of the biggest anti gunners I've ever met...
They want CCWs now :D

I'm volunteering a fair amount of time and effort to help an indoor shooting range get up and running, plus I've made a modest contribution to the High Road, and plan to make another next Sunday when I write checks.

I took my son to the range this morning.

Wrote on a couple of gun articles this afternoon.

Might be preaching to the choir in each case, but it's what I do.

I work with alot of "hippie" kids, I have taken a few of them shooting, they want to go everytime I mention it now. Also in the past year that I have had my permit to carry I have convinced three other people to get theirs. I helped my aunt pick out her first gun, she used to be very anti. I have also turned a few of my girlfriends friends onto shooting, and some of them are even from the evil state of California. I am working on getting a couple of people their first gun right now, a few of my close friends I have actually sold one of my lovelys as their first. I try to educate every media corupted mind I come across and have been personally responsible for turning a few gunnies on to CZs, one guy is trying to sell off his sigs to get more CZs.

Fix LEOs' (and friends') personal firearms free.
Coach individuals.
Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor.
Moderate at a couple o' websites.
Writing the book on the blackpowder sharpshooter. Almost done too. :D

Mostly - use my NRA certification to get folks thru pistol courses. Following that - we get some into the club and onwards - to shoot IDPA and other disciplines.

Otherwise - any and every person I meet who shows even the slightest interest in shooting - I will try and coerce (nicely!) to come to range and have some fun! Plus join NRA too if possible.

It's an ongoing thing .............

I spoil kids and dogs.

I "help" spend monies of parents, grandparents, husbands/ wives,boyfriends/ girlfriends on firearms, and sporting supplies.

As an older returning Student in College - I hope to use what learned to further Responsible Firearm ownership.

Being in College has slowed down the teaching and sharing somewhat, I still manage to get into trou...err...pass forward what passed to me.

Most of all - I try to always carry myself in a manner that Attracts, Promotes, and sets a good example of what passed to me - and my responsibilty to pass that forward.

We have three Grandsons (so far) and in our safe there's a .22 rifle for each of them when Grandpa and Grandma decide each is old (mature) enough to receive it. The oldest is only seven now. Don't read the "three Grandsons" part wrong - we don't have any GrandDAUGHTERS (so far) but if we did, each of them would have a .22 rifle in the safe also. My wife and I never had any sons, but we taught both of our daughters about guns and hunting. The oldest loves to hunt and has taken several deer. The youngest is far too soft-hearted to hunt, but she's pro 2nd Amendment and a BG would make a fatal mistake if he mistook her soft-heart for an unwillingness to defend herself or hers. ;)

Hey there Bear. You readin' my mind today? I was thinking of starting a thread along the same lines.

Well I consider myself in the advantageous position now by being around many people who are not accustomed to guns. I consider it a great opportunity to get basically everyone I know or meet into the sport. The least I do is give them the down-low on what the Second Amendment is really about and educate them properly on, "assault" weapons, Concealed Weapons Permits, and the laws our state provides on the use of deadly force.

Basically, I just state the facts and let them know how the media gives out less-than-accurate information, at best. Usually that is enough to get someone to "see the light". At least it piques their interest.

So far I have gotten my mother, father, and one of my sisters get into a concealed carry class. The girl I am dating also wants hers, but I am just helping her along on that because it was her idea. I am so proud to be dating her I am busting at the seams! :D lol. Her friend also noted her intentions of doing so.

I am off to go prod some people at another board which has nothing to do with guns. This kind of gave me another idea. :D

I write letters to the editors of newpapers and magazines.

I do the same to producers and advertisers of products seen on shows that are either anti or pro, telling them how the handling of the subject, either pro or con will effect my responses to the show those products advertised.

I make sure those business who display the sheeple sign of please rob me, no guns allowed, understand that i was going to shop in their establishment but now will find another who welcomes me and my personal security, and I tell them how much i would spend.

I take my son and my daughter shooting. I teach them they have to load to shoot. and they have to clean what they shoot, both the guns and the critters, (ok they do not have to clean the crow and pidgeons)

I have written my school district and told them that if a red lake or columbine happens in my childrens school, I will hold them personally and physically liable for the security of my kids. I also tell them that in none of the school shootings were any of the teachers able to defend themselves or the kids with weapons.

I pay a lot of range fees to a place that hires and supports youth shooting, choosing them over others who do not .

I like to build stuff.

sorry, couldn't help myself.

That is the best mail box ever.
On the wrong site, apparently. o_O

I promote our cause by babbling about how much guns rock endlessly.

oh i am going to stir it up good.
besdies already tlaking pro gun to many of the "neo spiritualist hippie trance freaks"
here, i go to colubs to dance to psytrance= this is pretty much a modern hippy scene to put it in terms y'all can get= very weird SF cali people.

i got Oleg's "armed people fly their colors" shirt. im gonna wear it to the clubs.

this should be very interesting, especially given the high percentage of Israeli immigrants at these functions.

the good thing about these wackos= they all start off anti gun, pro SF ban, but it doesnt take much = these people are also very anti gov't= getting them to make the connection between gun control and tyranny is not as hard as you might think!!

so far the couple folks i talked to have pretty much come to this=
guns are not for them personally, but they don't want the police to be the only armed citizens either, which works for me!

I ask Pizza delivery guys/gals

Why they do not carry. Some admit that they do. Others I ask if they feel lucky.
I promote responsible CCW and home defense to strangers. My coworkers I show all the glock kabooms I can find. I even show off that Glock/chev truck that went kaboom.
