What are your favorite conditions for outdoor shooting?

If I want to be alone at the range, a weekday with below freezing temps. is my best bet. Anything else means a crowd.

I like to shoot the Mosin when it is cold (less than 20 degrees), cloudy, absolutely no wind, with light flurries. It also helps if there is a foot or so of snow on the ground. Perfect conditions for absolute silence and stillness in the woods, only to be abruptly interrupted by the boom of the rifle; the sound carries forever.

My favorite conditions? 72 degrees with light overcast. But I try to get to the range at least one a year to practice in the rain and mud. The hardware needs a little extra cleaning and oiling after those trips.

This is AZ - we only have three seasons, hot dry, hot wet, and mildly cool. I prefer to not shoot during hot wet - the range road is dirt and washes out. The others are OK with enough water. :)

Any day to get out and shoot is a great day...with that said it doesnt really matter to me, overcast, rain, sunshine, foggy, day or night and even if it snows (when we have it).
Have my own private 700yd range. I can shoot outside or from inside of my shop or climate controlled gun room. I have lighted 25, 100 and 300yd target frames. I can and do handload on the spot. The only thing I cant shoot at night is clay targets. After hours and at night I shoot mostly suppressed weapons so as not to draw attention.

Not that I am a fair weather shooter......
Last August I remember shooting 600yd prone in 108 degrees and 90% humidity and 110% mirage with no shade. A couple of years ago I was in Canada shooting in late Nov it was a balmy -10 degrees. Have shot many competitions in the pouring rain, a memorable shoot was at Southwestern Grand where shooters, myself included would have to pour the water out of our shotgun bores when coming up to the firing line. My Storm shooting jacket is water proof and so are the shell pockets which will hold water:cuss:.

I prefer colder climates (fall/spring) and medium to low lighting. When its too bright it is sometimes hard to see your targets through a scope, or the sun can get in your eyes with irons.

I tried night time shooting for the first time yesterday and I'd have to say its pretty awesome. It presents another challenge of shooting where you have to be able to identify your target in the dark.

Actually the colder the better. Fewer shooters on the range and I just happen to like it when it's cooler out. I do draw the line at any temp below zero, howling winds out of the northwest, and freeezing rain or sleet.

Any day on the range is a good day! I prefer early mornings in summer before it gets too hot but the rest of the year any time is good as long as it's not blowing snow.

Hot, humid and maybe some dust blowing around. Love that gritty feeling and sweat dripping in my eyes, Nah, how about fall, mid November.

I am blessed by having access to a small range, a grassy patch 80x60, surrounded by trees, where 19 of 20 times I do not see, the less meet a soul. A great place to cleanse my mind. So anyting but pouring rain is fine with me there.
