What caliber for illegal immagrant uprising?

Hate to scare anyone, but whe.. ahem, if the time arises, what caliber for an uprising? This may be too real for us to actually discuss on here, but I'll give it a try. The government won't help us, and whe..ahem, if the time comes, what caliber should be the standard. 223- or 7.62x39?
 
I know that this thread is'nt about gun lube, or a B.S. story that someone dreamed up while watching scooby doo on Nick at nite, but please let the thread go for awhile!
 
Ah hell...this will be closed in no time, but I'd say a 12 pack and a 35mm camera ought to suffice. I like the view from my porch.

This thread has little to do with guns, more about the almost astronomically improbability of waging war on a large group of attacking/invading illegals.
Trying to get the ridiculous topic to fly by throwing out subtle insults towards the way THR works isn't smart, either.
In the almost impossible situation in which I'd find myself facing a group of poor illegal aliens, armed at most with junk pistols, any intermediate-calibre rifle would suffice.
 
I don't think the topic is too far off base, maybe worded a bit dicey, but...

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if we had a civil war of values in this country. When you look at the direction things are headed, it probably isn't going to get any better.

I think rather than asking a question about an illegal immigrant uprising, it is a fitting question to ask what caliber for defense of property and life if society breaks down at some point. That breakdown could be for any number of reasons. Think about the riots in L.A., hurricane Katrina, the riots in France, and the conflicts in any part of the world. I think the question is what caliber for defending yourself, family, and property if need be.

For me it will be lots of magazines loaded with the good ol' .308, and a battle/assault rifle that is reliable to the end.
 
As much as I can't stand illegal immigration into this country, this thread is, at it's core, asking for recommendations on killing human beings, under the guise of an "uprising", which given the subject matter (illegal immigration) is seriously unlikely to turn into some sort of civil-war scenario.
