What cartridge would you like to see made?

Back when metallic silhouette was popular with XP-100s and TCs, folks were necking 7mmBR up and down. One local gunsmith who loved that game also built several XPs - 22, 6, 7 and .30 BRs, all based on the 7mmBR; necksized, brass lasted a long time and man could he shoot those rams. Looking back, I sold my XP in 7mmBR and should have had him make it into a single shot predator rifle in 6mmBR; perfect for yotes, fox and chucks

I want commercially loaded 7mm Valkyrie. It's a wildcat smack in between 7mmBR and 7mm08. This round in a mini action would be the bees knees and completely smoke the mini action king 6.5 Grendel in every single way.

A second place vote would be the 24 or 25 GPC. That would be an excellent mini action choice also.

I have enjoyed reading the posts of this thread. I was thinking about different cartridges that could be necked up and down. After looking on the web and see that most of them have been done.

I would like to see some of the great cartridges that are not chambered in many rifles offered in rifles.
A Ruger American in 35 Whelen in both left and right hand. 8 mm Rem Mag in a A-Bolt.

I know that we can rebarrel and rework, but there is that extra cost and I rather spend the money on ammo!

Ruger to get rid of the 338 RCM and replace it with the 375 Ruger necked down to 338. That should duplicate a 340 weatherby, but in a standard length and beltless case. It exists as a wildcat known as the 338 bearcat or 338 campfire. Would be nice to have manufacturer support.

I don’t know why they went with the smaller RCM in the first place.

Many more of them, to replace a small fraction of stored ammo which was recently used: 7,62x39 and 9mm.

J-Bar: dag nab it, you beat me to the idea.

I’d like to see the 450 A.E. for my Desert Eagle. Many of the bullets that work in the Bushmaster would interchange. And then quickly put the Rowland to pasture.;)

32 Super and an 18-shot flush fit magazine to hold it in a subcompact carry pistol.

Agreed.:) And there aught to be about thirty nine of them in a 2011 or Beretta 92.
Or powerful enough to make the Seecamp worth carrying.

Not a new one but Id like to see 44 russian put into a lever action. Its the shorter ancestor of 44 magnum/44special, folks shooting single or cowboy action know it. Short, efficient, similar powder capacity as 45ACP, you can stuff lots of them in a tubular mag. People change the carriers on their 1873's to run it, but would be nice to see a more affordable factory chambering.
This is such a good idea. I’m imagining one with a 24” barrel (and tube), for getting through the 8 years of no-detachable-magazines that might be coming up.

Ok I see a bunch of wasted potential as far as wish lists go, I'd like a 6mm 120 gr bullet flying out of a 22" barrel at 3100fps using roughly 35-40 gr powder MAX, a 6.5mm 156/160 gr bullet at 3000 fps with 45-50 gr powder MAX, and a 7 mm 162 flying at 3200 with 50-55 gr powder MAX. Of course all of these need to have a plethora of easily obtainable brass and aftermarket friendly support. Otherwise in the "real" world, I like the 7 valk, 450 raptor, and a few others already mentioned.......
I forgot one, a DG rifle, external ballistics to make a hot .45-70 look like a pillow fight(vicious sibling brawls acceptable), but with recoil comparable to my .270wsm chambered, this must be supported by Benelli r1 platform.
Not even starting on handguns.

A faithful reproduction of the .303 Brit MkVII, with a flat base bullet (no spitzer).
So you want a flat based round nose? Why? I still have some in other calibers that I load for certain short range days, hits like a brick no doubt, but even a fbrn from a .30-06 leaves one wanting after 200ish yds, in my .303 Brit the spitzers work quite well?
