What caused this case failure?

I noticed this while prepping brass last week. This is a hand load using Lake City 2005 brass, LC crimped primer and a 62gr SS109 over 24.5gr of WC844. These are mild loads compared to factory M855 ammo. There are two ruptures in the case, none of the rounds felt or sounded different from the rest. I'm guessing weak brass.

Bad brass it is.

Nothing you can do reloading can cause that.

Thanks RC! It looks like it ruptured early in the process as it didn't expand very much at all.

Probably brittle.

Weak brass, on the shoulder. I get that a lot with factory 30-30 rounds that my buddy gave me after he sold the gun.

Yep, bad brass. Annealing could possibly help.
