Rubber band quick fix

While cleaning my RCBS piggy back I bumped the little spring that pulls the primer carrier. It went into low orbit somewhere in the room. What to do? went to the dollar store and purchased an assortment bag of rubber bands and found one that worked just right! After loading about 200 rds. of ammo without any problems , maybe no need to order a new spring as I have about a hundred replacements!

For those that tumble their brass with used dryer sheets: Wonder what the heck to do with all of those sheets? Stuff em into an empty tissue box and pull em out and use em like tissues!

put a small cloth such as patches or a peice of a sock or something down in your kenetic bullet puller to keep from deforming soft point bullets when pullled. I use a peice of sham wow! sham wows are also great gun wipedown cloths. they really hold the oil well and a dry one will clean up excess oil.

Just got a RCBS trim mate

Trying it out for the first time. It looks to be well made and it is nice to be able to do all that is needed in one place.

There is one thing that I thought could be better and that is the cutter that does the out side deburring. Its slow at cutting and a good bit of pressure has to be applied.

I was looking at my rcbs hand deburring tool and came up with this idea. This made a big difference in the speed of the deburring process

Hey Rudy850, I agree about the poor outside de-burring tool on the Trim-Mate. The hand tool looks aggressive enough. How did you secure it to the tool holder on the TM? Also, doesn't the other end of that tool have the inside de-burring tool? Did you have to craft an adapter? Aren't I full of questions?

The double duty hand tool is just setting in the trim mate deburring tool. kinda got a male female connection going on. all i did was set it in there and tape it to hold it in place

Wilson inside/outside case mouth deburring tool ($20) works great on military case primer pockets to remove the crimp. I've used it on 5.56, 7.62, 9mm and 45 ACP.

I dig through the trash at the local range for plastic loading trays. normally I will process 500-1000 casings at a time. I keep the primed brass in the free loading trays and load them up a few hounded at a time as i need ammo

I use a single stage press, before I charge my ninth case in a row, I set the 10th on my scale and hit zero that way I can weigh the charged case to check the charge weight


I found a range that will let me trade "trash brass" for brass I like. I keep all my split, bulged or otherwise unusable brass in a bucket, even spent primers and mosin bras, those add up in weight after several thousand... when I find some brass i want, i just trade them pound for pound, the scrappers pay the same either way

If you use a pointy jag for running a patch down your bore..... don't put it in the center of the patch...... put it off center, and it is less likely to get stuck in the bore!

NEW IMPROVED High Capacity Really Cheap Built from Scrap Loading-Storage-Loading Tray System (RCBS LSLT)

OK, I’m all happy that I made a way to process 38 Special rounds out of my turret press into a holding tray that also allows me to pick them up with a speedloader so I don’t have to touch individual rounds after the last press operation, and then jeepmor PM’s me and points out that I left a lot of space between the groups. So, based on his observation I went back to the drawing table (actually the CAD program) and here is the result… the New, Improved, High Capacity Speedlaoder Loader with 60 more rounds per tray. Now I can put 168 rounds in each of three trays in a surplus 50 Cal ammo can for a total capacity of 504 rounds. I also added improved wire handles because the increased weight made it too hard to lift (the pivots are spent 22LR cases soldered to the brackets ).

Case Mouth Deburring Tool
I came across what I feel is a great case deburring tool. Its quick, and does a very clean deburring of inside case mouths, and its cheap. I have am using the General Swivel Head Deburring Tool, item #481. The cost as shown on their web site is $8.50, comes with two blades in the handle. Go to the website www.generaltools.org, and type in the item number. Like I said it cuts fast and clean (except for the shavings of course) and easy on the fingers, great if you have arthrites in your hand. I have used it on 1000's of cases for a few years now. I only use my regular deburring tool for outside neck deburring now. P.S. I am still using the same blade of the two that came with it.

Tired of that wing nut to hold the top of your case tumbler? Use a spring clothes pin in place of it. Works like charm.

- Carbide sizer dies for pistol rounds....saves the lube step and is a helluva lot cleaner.
- When annealing the necks and ends of cases that have been fired and reloaded a few times, that may have stretched beyond the max length: after trimming the case and chamfering it, stand them up in water and use a butane torch to anneal the ends of the case.
- Chamfering tool or a 3/8 inch drill bit in a power drill works well to take out the military crimp in the primer pockets of small arms cartridges
- Run plated slugs through a sizer die to ensure proper diameter.
- Drop slugs cast out of wheel weights into a 5 gallon pail (Home Depot Homer bucket) full of very cold water with a towel in the bottom of it. Acts as a poor man's hardening process. (Close to SAECO 16 in my experience...depending upon the wheel weights used.)
