Finally got to shoot my new to me purchase from Monday. 6 inch Colt Anaconda.
Decided to go to our range at the hunting shack. No one there, of course. Nice! The road was flooded earlier this week, closed as posted by the USFS, "dam"n beavers and rapid snow melt.
Made it, culverts cleared.
Made it a "Snake" day. 6 inch Python wanted to play too.
Had these rookie mistakes to iron out...
357
It worked, kinda...Will use a hotter charge next round.
Anyways, shooting the Anaconda for the first time met my expectations.
First six shots swung my steel targets.6 for 6. 15 yards at a 4 X 5 inch target...I was happy! Single action, surprisingly light trigger. Double action became predictable.
I'll show you what I was hitting.
Slapped this together about 7 years ago, "swingers weigh just over 7 pounds,a healthy charge in a .44 Rem. Mag. will spin them.
Have yet to try my 460 S&W on them.
Have not had a fun day but a couple since deer season.
Must not have shot there since there was snow on the ground as the targets are usually painted white.
Loads for the Python were 125 grain HP pushed by a charge of IMR4227 and a mixture of factory loads I wanted to get rid of. Plus my cast 158 grainers over 2400 ~ 1135 fps.
I thought I despised anything other than a 158 grain bullet for a 357, but I'll tell you what. Those 125's are fun!
Will make a good load for my wife.
The Anaconda performed well with my cast 240 grains and Nosler 240 grain JHP. Both over a charge of 2400.
It was a good afternoon with mild temps and playing with my toys.
I mean tools.
Nah, revolvers, who am I kidding.
