What did you shoot today?

Yesterday I finally got out to shoot my new 2020 Colt 8 inch Anaconda purchased on March 17th. (Snow nearly gone)

Smoother shootin' than my 1991 6 inch Anaconda but obviously a bit more front heavy which I blame on age creeping up on me.

Only ran 12 rounds through it,as I was too tired from clearing trails "Up North" around the deer shack before taking the opportunity to get some rounds down range.

Mild loads with my cast SAECO no. 7 (hollow point) bullets over 17 grains of 2400 touched of by CCI 350's.

Looking forward to more shooting!

HEY!
Use care out there!

Shot my first competition today. A GSSF match at my local indoor range. Was a long wait to finally spend 5 minutes to shoot. Shot my Glock G35 in unlimited, I got stuck there due to me having an aftermarket RSA. Scored 496 out of 500. Was surprised to get that, I rarely shoot to 50 feet with any handgun. I haven't shot my G35 in over a year and I've only shot a hand gun once this year so far.

IMG_1406.JPG IMG_1521.JPG IMG_1539.JPG IMG_0287.JPG Luck allowed me to get to the range today. Took my favorites. 45-70 Buff. Classic / 6.5 Grendel AR / Bergara B14R rifles. For pistols: the Glock 35 / Taylor & Co. 9mm 1911govt. Got to shoot with both behavior groups. (Responsible acting adults and children) and (The irresponsible, rude, unsafe conduct: blasters) ..... Uuuggggh! :cuss: That's the chance we take at public ranges. Still, it was good to shoot. Made 7 in a row (45-70govt. Buff Classic from standing); 220yd iron sights hits on the 10-inch plate. YAY!

Hi..
My son and I spent Friday morning at the gun club.
We both shot quite a few different handguns and lever action pistol caliber rifles in various calibers.
The high point for me was shooting my new to me Virginian Dragoon single action revolver in .357Magnum for the first time. I also ran about twenty rounds through my N frame Model 27.
Also shot 20 rounds through each of my four .41Magnum revolvers and 20 rounds each through five of my .44Magnum revolvers snd another twenty through my Marlin .44Magnum lever action.

My son ran twenty rounds through the Virginian Dragoon in .357Magnum just like I did and he was impressed with the accuracy.
He did say he though it felt heavier than my two .44Magnum Virginian Dragoons.
He shot a large number of rounds through several semi auto pistols which I did not shoot any of this trip to the range.

Load testing a 155gr XTP in 10mm through my G29. And running drills from the (just received) C&G holster.

At a 10 shot average of 1289fps, and a 5" 10 shot grouping at 25 yards from a kneeling but unsupported position, I'd say this load is okay.

It turned out, on closer inspection, that the rear sight was slightly right of center, and has been corrected. The vertical inconsistency is all me though.

Yesterday i fired one five shot group of US Army 7.62mm XM 118 FA 63 Lot 9 Match ammo.

Rifle: Remington 700 .308 left hand".

Scope: Leupold FX3 6X.

Distance: 125 yards.

Group is 1-1.25": DSC02699.JPG

Not too sloppy for 60 year old ammo fired by an 84 year old geezer who ran a brush hog for six hours prior to shooting. :p

Shot 15 rounds through my new 5 inch S & W 460 this morning.

240 grain XTP's pushed by 42 grains of Enforcer touched off by Remington 9 1/2 primers.

What surprised me is there was not as much muzzle flip as I expected compared to the 8 &3/8 inch model.
Definitely will be keeping another revolver!

Biting insects were coming out in force, but my marksmanship needs work.

no,no the bugs cased poor target hits.
Yeah, yeah that's it. ;)

Took my "beater" SKS to the range today to check zero and it's shooting too high. Has a Tapco fiber optic front sight post that needs to be adjusted upwards ( they are threaded to go up & down), to lower the impact point of the bullets. Forgot to bring the adjustment tool but at least I know what direction to adjust it in. Another item for the "to do" list.. IMG_8586.JPG ... Also load tested all 4 of the different 444 Marlin handloads for the CVA Scout and they all group nicely. I'm real happy with them all. I could pick any one, fine tune the zero and be ready to hunt. Next project is to chronograph them just out of curiosity, I'm guessing they should be in the 2200-2300 FPS range. My favorite so far uses a 265 gr. Hornady FTX, which at those velocities would be a real thumper on deer, CVA also chambers the .45-70 in these rifles but for my uses that would classify as "overkill" and more recoil that I don't need. Here's a 444 with the FTX bullet next to a .30-06 for comparison.. IMG_8612.JPG .. I usually rotate through several rifles in deer season but this year the Scout will be first in line and I may not switch rifles until I fill a tag with this one. Come November that will be my "to do" list.. IMG_8333.JPG ..Was a beautiful spring morning to do some shooting.. IMG_8597.JPG ..
