What did you shoot today?

I meet up with @LocoGringo yesterday while I was on vacation in TN. We went to range near his home. I was very impressed with the facility.

I brought my XDM and Glock 20 10mm's. LocoGringo told me that he hadn't shot a 10mm when we were talking about getting together to shoot.

He brought several different firearms. Including a few setups that I had never shot before.
We laughed about THR enablers.
Well after shooting his 2011, I have a new must have for my list! I now understand why the upper end 2011's are so popular for competitive shooting.

We shot his persision 22lr. I forgot how much fun shooting a 22 rifle can be!!! His rifle will definitely shoot the holes in lifesavers!!!

We also shot his 6.8 AR with a Thermal Scope. It was really nice! If you're interested in getting a setup for feral pigs, I can't think of a better choice than this suppressed 6.8 AR. Thank God we don't currently have feral pigs in Wisconsin, but if we did, I would build a AR like his.

I want to thank @LocoGringo for getting together and bringing so many cool firearms. Mrs WisBorn was impressed with your 6.8 AR for hunting pigs when I told her about it. She is for shooting all of those destructive swine.

Tested W244 in 357 mag. *163gr lswc @ 6.8 grs. (book max is 6.0 @ 158gr)* and Lee 356-120-TC (123gr) @ 7gr. Both sized to .358 dia. Fed mag primers. Both did ok, no signs of over pressure. Fired in S&W M28 N frame. Use starting load, work up.

Problem- 22LR Aguila Super Extra 40gr Copper plated bullets. The diameters seem to be right a maximum. The fat bullets have to be shoved into my old S&W M17 Revolvers cylinder. The problem looks like tight match chamber?

My old Ruger MK1 seems to have a larger standard (Sporting) chamber? Looking at SAAMI there is listed a 22 lr Match & Sporting chambers. (new to me). Accuracy was as good as the Federal

Took the afternoon off, worked outside in the garden, and then shot the S&W MP15-22 just before coming in. Mine is an early one, before they came out with threaded barrelsand long before the "slim" handguards. I've been thinking of downsizing rifles I don't shoot much and have duplicates in the caliber and was toying with including this one....but no more. Have a cheap BSA 4x32 on it, but it's clear and adequate and the rifle was sighted right on at 60 yards, hitting 2" steel targets between 50 and 70 yards with ease. Forgot how fun that gun was...its no longer in danger of replacement!

No live fire today. I got in some good time with my K6S and the Mantis. Shot from low ready, holster draw, and holster draw timed. I've been dry firing regularly since maybe June last year. At first I wasn't sure about the improvement. But when I take my timer to the range, I've seen scores improve. Especially with revolvers and drawing from concealment. I'm wondering if I need to do more matches. Concerned about training scars and hearing the "Beep.'

Took the 1941 Sako Finn M39 to the 300 yard line this morning.

My load for a home cast 192 grain bullet runs at just under 1700fps, so a bit of trial and error was in order. I ended up with the issue sights at 800 yards, with a .002" feeler-guage shim tucked under there too, to get the elevation correct.

I'm still about 3 inches to the right, but I can use a bit of Redneck Windage ...

Test fired my Henry .22 Mag. levergun after return from service. No longer key-holing at 25 yards. 👍 Shooting decent 1"/10 shot groups @50 yds. w/40 gr. loads. 👍👍👍
Tested some Aguila Super Maximum .22 LR (solid and HP), along side some CCI Stingers and other "hot" .22 LR loads (40 gr. @ 1400+ fps) through an old Marlin 25n and a newer Marlin/Glenfield 25 (both bolt guns). Neither like the Aguila SM solids, both liked the HPs. Both liked the stingers, and both really liked the Winchester Small game/Varmint "hot" .22 LR.
Good day.
