For a birthday gift to myself. Tonight I walked in my usual spot and they have a model 19-3 blued 6inch white outline adjustable rear sight. It looks like maybe it has been fired about 50 times but no more at least I do not believe it could've been because there is no blue wear at all. Forcing cone is in perfect condition it locks up tight and no cylinder wobble. There is a slight line on the cylinder. The wood grips have no nicks not even scratches. They say an older woman brought it in and got rid of it after her husband past away and she did not feel safe with his collection around the house. I am sure they did not give her much for it or the other stuff she brought in which is really a shame but they are asking $399 for it. I was thinking about offering $365 to see if they will take that. They actually took it off display for me to come back tomorrow and get it because they see me as a good customer, thank goodness because I am sure it will not be there long.

I wish I had pictures but I don't. So what do you experts think?

Do it, shame the money could not have went directly to her. Sound like a firm deal, Bill

That firearm is a menace to society! Send it to me immediately for processing and safe keeping, where it will not harm anyone!

Sounds like a good deal. Pictures, please, when that thing comes home with you.

And man, I wish I was that lucky.

Well I took your advice and thank you

This is very nice IMO. I just got it home and the first thing I did was take it out of the box to post a picture here. I have not even cleaned it up or wiped the finger prints off of it or all the drool from the shop for that matter. I felt bad because there was a guy in there looking at it and really wanted it but he did not have the cash and wanted to put it on 90day layaway, the owner knows me and said well you see that guy over there he told me he was coming back for it today possibly, so if you want it you need to get it but he just did not have the cash. Me and my wife almost got divorced over this thing today because I told them I will be there when the shop opens after I do my research. I told them If not put it back out to the public. Low and behold I get up ready to leave this morning and there is mulch in my driveway blocking me from getting out. :cuss: I am glad I got up early to find that or I would have had to give the wife her walking papers had I missed out on this :) It is a 19-5 by the way. I was in a rush yesterday when I looked at it.

Nah no other woman is going to support me like she does she is a keeper LOL.

I feel like I got a really good deal he let it go for $365 as I suspected.

So what do you all think now?

Congrats on the great find, it looks as good as you said.

I never see revolvers in this shape where I live. I wish I could find stuff like this. I've been looking for a 4" Model 10-8, Model 64-5 or Model 67-2 for over a year now without luck.

Actually this was my first find of this sort as well. Most shops are only carrying the new stuff these days. I hardly ever see firearms like this let alone some of the stuff I have seen posted on here. Some of the stuff I have seen posted on here has made me just want to cry but luck finally fell my way with this find.

Very nice pistol, indeed.

I have a nice 686 6-inch, but it doesn't have the great balance of a 6-inch 19/66, nor a 6-inch Security-Six. There's something wonderful about a medium frame lightweight that can be easily carried and shot. I love the 686, but gun owners really deserve a choice.

I'd love to have a like-new 66 in that barrel length, with counterbored chambers. What really pains me are the ones confiscated from criminals and then melted down into manhole covers. When I see some liberal inner city mayor or councilman or woman grinning over tables of beautiful old style revolvers, I could just cry.

Wonder what they're going to do with Phil Spector's guns? *Sigh!*

Very nice! Short post because drool will get in my keyboard otherwise. Congrats and enjoy!

5 More

About 3 weeks ago, there were 5 Model 19s at Johnson General Store in North Tonawanda, NY. It's also near Buffalo, NY. Have to look up number as I don't have it. 2 or 3 were of the "old" variety. Very nice price on the one I asked about (altho it was a quick look, did not examine gun closely as yet): $249.

Also in North Tonawanda (look under Buffalo) try Gander Mtn, or maybe any Gander Mtn for used old revolvers. Here's a Colt Python I picked up for $450. While that was unusually low, they still have very reasonable prices on used, "old" revolvers, which are not big sellers.

Wow. Nice lookin' gun. I would have bought it as well. When we see something like that around here it's way overpriced. The junk S&W's are $400 & up. :fire:
