i only wear big pants with big pockets. can not stand iwb carry. pocket carry is the only way for me.

for the longest time i pocket carried a glock 19 unchambered no holster. it fit well but was a little slow to draw....and then chamber. so i bought a shield and keep it chambered with safety on. but it does want to hang up a little when drawing.

then i bought a ruger lcr in .22lr. that thing is perfect for pocket carry and draw. love it. so im thinking of buying lcr in .357 with this ammo:

thats impressive ^^^

but im worried about only 5 shots. so i plan on new york reload. lcr .357 in right pocket and in left pocket, either glock 19 unchambered (15 rounds) or shield chambered with safety(8 rounds). which would you choose?

Glock 19 owb holster like a Bladetech Ecipse with one in the chamber and 15 rounds in the mag.

For summertime a S&W. 357 j-frame in front right pocket. Ruger LCR could easily replace my j-frame.

I won't go places where I think I'll need more than 5 rounds or 2 guns.

First off an unchambered semiauto is worthless unless its made of solid steel to use as a club. 2nd if you are dead set of pocket carry then why not the 22LCR in one pocket and the .357 in the other. Better yet the G19 holds more than both combined so just get a good holster for it and keep it chambered.

I'd recommend a pocket holster at least, it's basically just an envelope, and will maintain orientation of the grip consistently.

Brush by a table , sit with the fabric tensioning against your leg, without something over the trigger, It just seems like an unneeded risk of bumping the safety off of your shield. (Attend the tale of 4-toed Joe, His trigger was fast but his draw was slow ;) )

3 different brands of jeans (Lee Carpenters, Levi 550s, and any Wranglers) won't allow me to draw the Chief's Special .38 from a front pocket while sitting, with or without a pocket holster however, and at my size, the pockets are about as big as they get. In a light Coat's pocket however, no draw needed, just shoot through the coat.

I've yet to try Carhart or Duluth jeans, and you didn't specify your brand, although if you can get a clean sitting draw, more power to you.

As to the New York reload, I'm a big believer in it, but I carry a Blackhawk .45 in a shoulder rig, in the extreme off chance I actually need more than a fast draw and 6 shots, the M&P (in the IWB you can't stand) gives me that 15+1 buffer rather than trying to speed-load the Blackhawk under stress.

At least till I find the "right" second Blackhawk to ride opposite my current one.

I would never carry an unloaded gun of any description, in any carry method. No matter what.

If you are not confident in the design, or your ability to handle it safely, leave it in the safe.

I would rather have a loaded five shot revolver than an "unloaded" 15-round Glock.

We know not the hour or the day...

I agree I will take a loaded J frame and place 5 shots on target and be done by the time I could draw a 19 from a pocket and chamber a round.

Do you carry the LCR with a holster? I hope so. Every gun carried needs a good holster, it is foolish not to

I would not carry a self-loading pistol like a Glock with chamber empty.

I would avoid pocket carry with an exposed trigger also.

Have you ever fired a full power 357 Magnum revolver? I would not recommend a 357 Magnum from any J-frame sized gun, especially light weight ones.

I only pocket carry my J frame when it is extremely hot out. Otherwise, holster carry is a must. I just get used to IWB carry......CC is not supposed to be comfortable

The un-chambered round is less of a time issue as it is a manipulation issue. You will need two hands to reliably chamber a round, especially in a small auto like the mini Glocks.

This means that you cannot have a cellphone or shopping bag in your hand. If you're walking with your wife or child and someone frightens them, they'll be grabbing onto your nearest arm and fastening themselves there like a tick. (and they'll be much more traumatized by your shoving them away so you can get both hands on the gun than they were over the bad guy)

Sounds like you should keep the gun you have and spend some money on training. An Un-chambered gun in your pocket is a really bad idea. You will be defenseless when you need to bring that gun into action. Why not iwb?

Unless you get one of those NY type heavy double action trigger jobs for G19 you're likely to blow nasty hole in them pants with large pockets.
