It is aftermarket (not original) they require a little filing for proper fit, but looks fine on my 98.

All you had to do is ask.
Fortunately for me, my shooting buddy has several K98k Mausers, and has dealt with a bunch of different vendors.

If you aren't the high bidder on the hood(s), let them pass and go to on of the vendors that have been listed here.

For what it's worth, I bid on a 'correct' stock for my byf43 a couple of years ago.
The bidding got near what I paid for the rifle. That is when you have to ask yourself, "Is this worth it? Will this make my rifle 'correct'? Will I be satisfied with the results?"
If any of these are "NO". . . walk away from it.

I then stumbled onto a 'correct' stock for less than $100 and I jumped on it.
It's in my workshop now, waiting for me to give it some 'attention.'
