What does "zero tolerance" mean?

There are so many NO threads, I am totally lost. I just want to know if soldiers and policemen are seriously going to be shooting people or under what circumstances.
 
Generally, it also means "zero thinking"....

The idea is that a specific act carries a specific penalty and that's that - no room for reason, common sense, extenuating circumstances, etc.

So, when a school announces "zero tolerance" for weapons, you run the risk of getting expelled for wearing an NRA T-Shirt or bringing in a squirt gun.

It also means zero regard for man's moral capacity.

Instead of allowing people, who are moral creatures capable of right and wrong (which is determined by action + intent) to use moral judgment...it suspends that judgment and replaces it with policy.

Another step toward the dehumanizing of modern man.

And we wonder why people sink to the depths of depravity...
