What exactly makes the HK P9S allegedly so accurate/precise?

I handled a P9S for the first time, and gave it a good inspection. I always read about how superior this pistol was and is, and how it rivals even the Sig 210 for precision/accuracy. I don't see how and here's why:

*Is this thing even rifled and have a twist? Dang, it almost looked like a circus funny-mirror looking down the bore. I understand the whole polygon rifling thing, but this barrel didn't even look like it would spin the bullet!

*OK, I noticed the thing has a fixed barrel, but so what? The slide to frame fit isn't very tight and the slide hole at the muzzle is HUGE and doesn't even hug the barrel (similar to a Beretta 92)! If the barrel is fixed to the frame and the sights are on the slide, how is this thing going to shoot as precisely as a match fit 1911 or a Sig 210?

*Where's this superior trigger pull I keep hearing about? The trigger pull on this sample was average at best, and had a ridiculous amount of overtravel, so much so that the front sight would jump to the right at the end of the trigger break. This was the target model, so perhaps the trigger has a way of being adjusted for overtravel?

Anyway, these are my observations. Admittedly, I didn't shoot the pistol, but I just don't see how it gets the praise heaped upon it that it does. So feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about my observations or conclusions listed above!

Polygonal rifling works fine ,a fixed barrel makes a big difference . Both features are on my P7 ,they work !! All I can say is try it you may like it .

I'm working on a FAQ for the P9S, but here is a nice magazine article on it, they are very few and far between.

I still think my P7s, specifically my P7 M13 and P7 M8 are more accurate than my P9S 9mm, but the P9S is a VERY close second. The Walther P99 is a VERY close third in accuracy - at least with me shooting it. :p

Delayed roller locking and the polygonal bore. Basically, I think the delayed unlocking of the chamber essentially gives you the same benefit of a fixed barrel system.
