What finish for heavy carry?

I have read the reviews on just about every coating availible for firearms, which has lead me confused and flustered. From Gun Kote to Dura and even some industry plating methods and I still cannot decide because I lack experience with any of them other than blueing and I'm no fan of highly polished guns or chrome plated for concealed carry, matte stainless is about as luster as I get. I recently aquired a Taurus model 85 revolver and I'm thinking very seriously about making it my everyday inside the waist carry gun, but the factory matte stainless finish is rough and could use tlc. I need a finish that will hold up to holster wear and scratch resistant. I need something tough!

I, too, just recently acquired a stainless Taurus 85 in need of some TLC. I stripped it down, cleaned up most of it's bruises and bead blasted it.
The beaded finish has held up well on several guns for me. It can also be touched up as needed.
Here's a shot of the 85 and a S&W 60 with the same type of finish (I did this one some time ago):
