I have seen this topic around but very few good answers and none specific.
I need a good answer and appreciate if anyone had any success with a specific part number for pachmayr grips.
I was considering modifiying some J frame round butt S&W grips, but the revolver is inexpensive and I just want to replace the factory grips I have on it. I would rather finger groove.

I wish that Pachmayr Diamond Pro Grip For Smith & Wesson J Frame Round Butt - 02478 would fit. I don't know. I have a ticket with Pachmayr support but no response yet.

Pachmayr #3147 compact grips seem to be the best guess or maybe Thailand sellers have one in wood?
No luck yet after about 75 views?

I seriously doubt any factory grip will fit it.
The RB shape is much different then any S&W or Colt RB.

I think custom made grips are your only option.
And the grip maker will need the gun for a pattern.

Before long, you are in 2-3 times the guns value in shipping both ways, and the cost of the grips.

I doubt any grip maker in north America has a pattern gun for it.
That's just another problem buying an old off-brand gun.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
Without spending more money then a new silk purse costs.

RC, I will end up making my own I guess and might as well start out with a pair of larger grips and sand them down to size. Seems easier than finding one. If a sows ear would work, I'd give it a try. I do have a grip but I wanted to improve on it. When I took it off, there was some tar-like tough residue to remove on the stainless steel.

Here on THR was the best response I got. Thanks you guys!
I bought a set of the Pachmayr 3147 and hopefully they will work. They will be here sometime next week I suppose.
I will follow up and at least somebody will have a definitive answer down the pike for search engines to find as to how these work out for a Rossi M877.

I don't know if the M877 is a lot different than my M88 but, those #3147 grips fit my M88. Your grip frame looks the same as mine. Hope it works. They are nicer for shooting than the wood as they give my pinky a place to grab but, I like the wood for looks.

I got the Pachmayr #3147 compact grips on. The fit had to be modified by making a new recessed area ( hole into but not through of course) where those posts are at the base of the frame are. There was an existing recessed area but it was not in the same place. I used a drill bit in a chuck handle like a screwdriver and used a bit the same size as the "bumps" on the frame. I could tinker some more with it but got it to fit good enough. I do believe that the handle part of my frame is maybe a tad thicker than the newer Rossi's of the same size. There is a very slight gap when on the revolver but not enough to be a noticeable or functional issue. All in all, I would say these are the only grip replacements I could come up with. They feel good and look right. They will do. So there's my report if anyone else comes across this post. It can be done, it is acceptable but you will need to make some fitting.
