I got a handgun tag for Javelina 
. Should I use my Glock 22 .40 S&W or my Kimber 1911? Thanks it should make for a fun hunt!

I'm not happy with any hunting handgun that won't shoot 2" groups at 50 yards. Javelina aren't hard to kill, but you gotta hit 'em in the shoulder, not anywhere behind it, or hit 'em in the head. They're easy to sneak up on, especially if you have elevation. Just be sure and face the wind.
Me, for handguns, excluding my contender, I'll take my .357 Blackhawk, 6.5" barrel. It's a tack driver and I can put 6 rounds into 4" at 100 yards with it off a bench rest. In the field, hitting a piggy at 50 yards is not a problem. I've done it with less, though, a Rossi 4" M971 .357 magnum which wasn't QUITE as accurate, but would toss 'em into 3-4" at 50.

I thought the handgun season was already over. The general season starts the 20th. I'll be out there with a scoped Saiga .223. I just need to be within 100 yards.

Take an accurate bolt action .22-250. You can snipe 'em from 500 yards. I could take one out from 200 with my scoped contender easily, perhaps beyond with a good enough rest.

The Kimber 1911 -- but only because I'm an admitted Glock-hater and I swoon at the sight of 1911 Kimbers (I have the Eclipse II Target). If you insist on a 40 S&W, though, I'd suggest something like my H&K P2000.

Just took mine saturday @ 10 am. hit it at 70 yards with my 30-06. Head shot.

Either cartridge will work just fine. A fair number of pigalinas have been killed with .38 Specials. Headshots are best, whether pistol or rifle.
Once you spot javelinas, they're easy to work in close to from downwind or crosswind. I've even managed to grab a baby, just for the heck of it. Once while sitting and hoping for Bambi to wander by, I had a couple of sows with babies come up from downwind and spend over a minute, sniffing up a storm at the strange critter they'd never seen before. Hard to keep from busting out laughing...

I agree with Art. Either would work fine. Just make sure you hit them hard before walking on them. I have scene several seemingly dead Javelinas get reinvigorated with a murderous spark of life when approached.
