30-30 is plenty medicine for the Javalina. Don't shoot them in the head use the boiler room.

#1 you skin and prepare the skull for the trophy mount. It looks bad ass and easy to do.
#2 If by chance you get a big one that could give the state record a run they measure the skull for certification.
They can't see crap at a distance but their hearing and smell is sharp. I've walk into the middle of a herd with proper stalking without them detecting me until I unleashed an arrow. Then it can get a bit dicey with them snapping their jaws and charging around.
Javalina will also respond to a varmint call, when done right they will act like a SORT Team coming to the rescue. They will be running charging woofing'and clacking their tusks. I had at one time a Javalina jump into and out of my lap when I was calling for my friend when he had arrowed one and I was using the call to keep the pig close to the area.
The quicker you can skin the Javalina when his body is still warm the easier the hide will come/pull off. Others have described the sac position and the nipple. Be sure not to cut the sack either. The musk is so distinct I can smell where pigs have recently been when I'm hunting them.
Javalina meat is gamey as all get out, and not all ways of cooking can counter that. Usually when you find "the recipe" that's the one you will stick with. For me it's Javalina ground and prepared into Chorizo Sausage MMmmm. Javalina Chorizo burro's for Deer camp breakfast is the best.
Good Luck
