"Only a few years ago" was probably a lot longer than you remember. The last time I saw a sub-$100 SKS was around late 1995.
$ 99 for an SKS is back 18 yr old prices.

I bought two crates of Yugo's off gunbroker in 2005 for $99/ea (after shipping).

Was I just dreaming? Nope. :D

Pardon the switch to ammo chat, as it has already been brought up.
Regarding full-power surplus ammo prices (larger than x39), the only good deals I've found after many months of reading, other than 7.62x54R for Mosins, is Yugo 8mm Mauser ammo at similar prices.

Two months ago, Ammoman dropped his price for 900 rds. of 8mm from $229 to $199, shipping included. This really surprised me.
With the new Wolff firing pin spring, there are no more ftfs in my Mauser with this ammo.

Wonder why the during the Bush admin. they didn't undo the China bans?
Because the son was not about to actively go and undo daddy's work

Pretty much this. He went even further and put in place the executive order banning numerous parts for import such as barrels. At least they not as bad as Reagan, Ford, Nixon, and Eisenhower were with the gun control laws.
