Thank you so much for having the courage and the character to do what many can't. I have never served and for that I am greatful. I am a peaceful man who only wishes to someday raise his own family. I live in bliss in this freedom that you and many like you have given me. Don't think for one second that I don't appreciate it. For the first time in history, a nation is at war, and I as a citizen am free to do as I please without being forced to serve. It is because of brave men and women like you that voluteer to serve that I am not forced to. We all want peace, but some of us are willing to go above and beyond and serve their country of their own free will. Because of those men and women, the rest of us can go about our lives as we please. I am only free because of your sacrifice, and I will thank God every day for men like you that keep me in the safety and comfort of my home. You have more courage and dedication than most men, including myself. No matter what anyone says, you are fighting for my freedom. No matter what you do, no matter who your enemy is, the fact that you are there of your own will is the only reason that I am here of mine. Thank you for giving me the gift of freedom, and thank you for having the courage that I do not have.

this is the stuff that gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling of pride at the end of the day. alot of the other marines ive talked to that just came back from the sandbox say that the support at home keeps them pushing along. my time over there hasn't came yet but will come sooner than expected i imagine, but knowing that although we may be over there may not sit well with the global community, the fact that we come home and are praised means all the world to us.

I have realized that those brothers and sisters that served in the Vietnam era are truly something else, fighting the same kind of war we are now, and then coming home to be treated like the enemy, I cant imagine what it took for them to carry on.

but knowing this is now horribly off topic, Im going to tell all the active duty and retired Marines, Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen thank you. You covered my six long enough to get on my feet, now its time to watch yours.

hatchetbearer, I was joking around.

In WW-2 the Marines were still being issued 03 Springfields as bolt guns which were at that time even considered obsolete, being replaced to the Army as Garrands in semi auto.

As to working with a broken wrist, well you are a tough SOB.. I been there.. I fell about 6 feet and landed on frozen ground to break mine and with tap and no doctor i was back on the job the next day. I chipped a silver dollar size hunk of bone off my elbow too, and taped that, but on day 3 it slipped and man did I howel.

So all I am saying is I know what it is like.

I pulled another stunt as well in 05, crashing a big motorbike 1/2 way across the USA. I broke 3 ribs that day, and went on west, and all the way back east with them still broken. I didn't set out to go home any time early.

I suppose I could be a real hero, if someone would just give me a sturdy soap box.. LOL

I'm just going to add, Congratulations, Marine. Be true to the Corps and it will be true to you. Do your best, always, and you will turn out a fine person.

This note from a jealous guy too old to be of service anymore. (We need a saluting Smilie for this, don't we!)

The Doc is out now.

expvideo...

That was one of the nicest and most honest posts I've ever seen from anyone. Well done.

Congrats Marine. Thank you for your service!

I don't have a crystal ball, but my sitrep for you would be that everyone fears the unknown, so there's a panic in the gun world. I don't know how it will end but I suspect there will be 'some' respite between January 3rd and January 20th when the reality of the overindulgence hits some people.

That might be the time to strike, save your money and wait.

After the 20th I will not venture a guess, no one really knows.

Thank you for your service to our country!

I ordered a customized DSA FAL at the end of October. They told me it would be 15 weeks. Since the election many others have ordered guns pretty much everywhere. I expect that until the majority of the demand is satisfied prices will remain somewhat high. I just hope that another AWB is not passed before you and I get our guns.

The day after the election, a site that I frequent, Cheaper Than Dirt, raised the price on much of their ammo. That freaked me out enough that I ran down to Walmart and bought a thousand rounds of .308 for a gun that I don't even have yet. Now I have another bill I need to pay off.
