Hey guys after Colorado there has been alot of talk on this board and in the media about another assault weapons ban. I was young and not collecting firearms during the last ban. My question is what exactly happens when a ban is implemented? Does anyone that has already purchased a AR or AK have to give up there weapon or does it just ban any new firearm sales? If you do have to give up your weapons does the government have some kind of buy back program? Thanks for any info.

We will have to give up our 'assault weapons' when they go house to house with the U.N. troops , but then we get our vouchers for $50 sneakers. Those that don't comply will be hauled off to the FEMA camps.....

Well ... maybe not....

:D

Last time you could buy pre ban items such as high cap mags, but they were expensive. Good investment at the time though. With a new one, who knows what they will try, they may not allow for any ownership even if the product was bought with no ban in place.

No buy back. They would just consider it a confiscated weapon.

Bottom line is the last ban won't foretell what a new ban would entail. Best bet is to vote smart. :)

A second American Revolution.

Don't kid yourself.

I've seen police arrest in handcuffs a poor elderly couple living off social security (a veteran I might add) and throw them in jail with the pimps gangbangers and rapists for....get this... non payment of a doctors bill.

Any police force that will do that will have no problem kicking your door in at 2am after throwing a flash bang through your bedroom window pointing an M4 in your back while your handcuffed on the floor and your family watches in order to collect your guns.

No problem at all and they'd tell you "sorry just doing my job" afterwards.

All right, there have been several threads on this. The bare truth is no one knows what happens, because there is no law even being proposed for us to discuss.

There haven't been many real gun BANS in the US, and very few (I can't think of any) of those have actually involved confiscation of guns already in citizens' hands.

There have traditionally been "grandfather" clauses of some sort that exempted current owners.

But with nothing out there to inform the question, this is just pure speculation. And that gets us nowhere good. What MIGHT "they" do? No one knows. Probably not worth getting worked up over it until someone with some influence actually gives us some kind of target to start hitting.
