What if there was an announcement one day that the next day the ATF would knock on your door and remove all the firearms from your home? I know that chances of this happening are very slim to none. But really, What would you do? Would you give in, or fight back?

I'm not really cut out for prison life. Assuming it was some new law, I would give them up.

I don't think they have the man power to attempt it! With a few days notice, many weapons would misteriously disappear!

What a coincidence, azyogi... My firearms and ammunition were all lost in a mysterious boating accident as well!

I don't see the ATF attempting something like that... Wouldn't be any ATF agents left to finish the job once they really got started.
In all reality, a situation as the OP described probably won't happen in this country, however for my true opinion on the matter, see my signature line. I'd likely toss em my RG10 and say that's all they're getting. If they want the rest they'll have to take them from me. Some things aren't worth standing up for... I feel that the 2nd Amendment doesn't just protect a right, it also confers a DUTY to all those who would exercise that right. Defending my family and myself (as well as my neighbors and their families) is my duty, and I'd die protecting my family (or yours) if it were required of me. Any RKBA "supporter" that would simply lay down and hand over their guns in a situation where the government has decided to overstep all bounds and seize privately owned weapons cannot truly call himself a supporter.

These types of threads are not conducive to the mission of THR. We really can't get into a discussion about willfully violating the law or hysterical hypotheticals. It has been discussed many times and it almost always degrades into something of a 'cold dead hands/government revolt' type of thing.

I would certainly hope many, of not most on this forum, have made it a point to aquire firearms through "private" dealings.

What if... we don't talk about this, because we have empirically proven over the years that there is no profit in this kind of thread.

Invariably, the responses devolve to two vocal and intractable perspectives; either the 'we have no choice in a nation of laws' crowd (who get roundly beaten as statists by the 'patriot' crowd) or the 'you can have my answer at muzzle velocity!' crowd (who get roundly ridiculed as chairborne ninjas by the 'let's be practical' crowd).

We've seen this played out a million times, and there is nothing new to be learned in all this.
