This is not an offer for sale. Rather I seek advice as to a good website to list factory ammo for sale. I sold my collection of firearms and have an extenisve inventory of factory ammo I no longer need.

Yes, I can make some chairitable donations however since much of retirement went up in smoke I am less able than I once was.

Is it worth the liabilty

If you were to post ammunition for sale and are not a dealer. You will assume alot of liabilty. I realize that your local walmart or dicks or whatever sells tons of ammo. They have the insurance to back them if someone were to blow up their gun do to wrong ammunition or whatever. No I am not a lawyer. I am a NRA certified range saftey officer. There was a incident a couple weeks ago where a man was trying to shoot .300 win mag rounds through a .300 weatherby. You have no control over how that ammo will be used. If someone asks wants to know what ammo to shoot through such and such rifle and you make a recomendation even if that person gave you a wrong desciption there is some tort liabilty involved. Take it to a local gun range only if it is factory ammo. We have a annual outdoorsman swap meet here in NE KANSAS. I would try and sell it to people you know first.

Why not advertise it on the For Sale/Trade forums here?

And as far as liability in the case of a Kaboom - it's factory ammo. Why would he be held liable for something he had no part in the manufacture of? If it were handloads, that's different.

Even if it were legally possible to sue him, which I doubt very much, he probably doesn't have deep enough pockets to make it worthwhile. The lawyers would almost certainly go after the ammo company, instead.

Name the last three times a private sale of factory ammo resulted in a lawsuit.

No, it doesn't happen, does it?

Blacksmoke, do you have any friends living nearby who might want to buy your ammo? Selling to friends and acquaintances who appreciate a good deal (and want to help you in your retirement) is always a good idea. Or maybe post a notice at a shooting range or rifle/pistol club. It skips the shipping cost, which will kill you on ammo.

I'm with posting it in the sell/trade forum here. I think everyone here would be interested in any .223/5.56 ammo you'd be unloading (as it has all been hoarded) :)

My suggestion is to try to post it on a gun board for your local area first for a FTF sale. Shipping ammo is a PITA, unless you don't mind taking it to the UPS central depot. The retail UPS store fronts won't accept them. Plus shipping is expensive.

I need to write up a list. Most of what I have is not all that much in demand here; e.g., .375 H&H Magnum, .45 S&W, .45 ACP ball ammo (Winchester and mil contractor), .45 Long Colt, .30-30, ,30-06 military ball type. 7.62 X 39 Wolf that is in a bucket since the boxes got rained on and swelled up.

I will do up a list when I get back from Texas this week. There is one chap here who gets a peak early and then I will put it out there.

I am keeping one Ruger blue Redhawk and a Ruger Deerfield carbine for survival gear and a coach 12 gauge SXS just in case Doc Holliday returns to this part of NM:D.
