I put a SPAS 12 on layaway. They are asking $700

It has the folding stock with carry hook, push button safety,
foward mounted front sight and full length mag tube.

The gun is in 99% condition, no scratches, dings or other detriments to appearance or functioning.

It was an impulse buy so I'm hoping I didn't jump the gun (no pun intended)

Thanks

IMO, I think that is a great price. I paid $600-$650 back in the early '90s. NIB, solid stock (got it just after the folding stock ban otherwise I would have gotten the folder), push button, full mag. Make sure the O-ring is OK.

Unless I am mistaken, the SPAS-12 is already a pre-ban assault weapon by virtue of it's semi-automatic capability, magazine capacity and pistol grip. As such, adding a folding stock to it following the '94 AW ban would not be illegal.

That looks like a good price for a SPAS some people are trying to get rid of their trashy ones for $900 or more on auction sites. Have fun with it.

and here if you didn't know already this site is worth a look at: http://spas12.com/

Way back when my buddy bought a Spas. We got the thing home and I ripped it outta that box. "How does the conversion work!!!!!" I yelled at him pushing the button in and jamming the fore grip back with a loud snapping sound. Thats right it was outta the box for all of 15 sec and I busted it. Spas is worth very little to me.

I had planned on getting the Benelli M3 with the folding stock to match the pump/auto of the SPAS but decided it was too bulky and ugly when folded (as compared to the SPAS-12 which you can fold totally flat on top). Since I got the solid stock M3, I kept the SPAS solid too. Plus, those folders ain't cheap (last time I checked).

Bought one NIB for $450, sold it for $650.

In excellent condition, I've seen them go for $1000 or more.

For the "coolness" factor, they rate high. Functionally, there's many shotguns out there that are better.

BTW, shooting from the folding stock may convince you to make the gun a Safe Queen.

Just paid $850 for one on Auction Arms. It's heading back where it came from for a refund. Various internal problems that the seller should have caught if they had tested it like they said.

I sold my 2nd SPAS a year ago for $1100. The one before that for $1250. I'm on the lookout for another now, hopefully under $900. I like them, never had any problem with the first two and found them uncomfortable to shoot only with heavy loads or with the "spreader" attached. For the "cool" factor they are unbeatable, if that's your thing. Personally I just like the "gizmo" factor.
