Looking for an accurate, cheap to practice with bolt rifle. I cant figure which twist is better 1/9(savage) or 1/12(cz) for the cheap 55 grainers. 40g is the smallest I will shoot, maybe up to 64g tops.

More likely to shoot lighter 40-45g bullets than heavier 60g bullets, might take a few crows, groundhogs, and coyotes with it.

Also, what is your guess to when 223 ammo coming back in stock?

1:9 Bushmaster is what I have, and I've used 40 gr. hollowpoints and 55 gr. M193 just fine out of it. A barrel with a 1:9 twist should be able handle up to 69 gr. without problems.

1/12 is great for 55 and down, that's really the sweet spot. 62's won't stabilize in mine, not sure about 60.

1/9 is probably sufficient and gives you more options if you want to shoot heavier bullets at some point.

Typically 1-12 is enough for 55gr 1-9 is the sweet spot for 55gr and up to 69gr. The quality and length of the bbl as well as type of bullet have something to do with it too.
