I'm a reloading data/manual whore... I love them all, but I do tend to reference the Lyman and Hornady books often. I also look up data online from the power manufacturers religiously.
My "intro to Reloading " class was a Lee manual an ammo-&-reloading-supplies guy sold me for half price after I mentioned I was thinking about trying to learn to reload. No haggle. No big purchase. I think maybe I had spent 30 or 40 bucks and then casually mentioned I had thoughts about trying to learn how. He said something like "here's the best place I know to start and I will sell it to you for less than I paid." I already had a Lyman 47 (quite a few years old) but for whatever reason that didn't get me going. The Lee did the trick. I use plenty of other resources and there are things I know I can't find in the Lee (CFE loads for example) but Lee still is my usual default starting point. No matter what your source, cross referencing is always a good idea
