I have an RCBS universal hand priming tool and I cant fit the brass into the slot. I tried the priming system that comes with the RCBS rock chucker supreme press and it doesn't seat the primer far enough into the case. How do you seat primers for 338 Lapua brass? This is my first time loading the 338 Lapua.

I use a Lee hand primer and it works fine. Cheap and has good feeling too. Don't remember which shellholder, but I have the little red box with all of them. It's saved me a few times.

I have loaded 45 ACP, 40 SW, 243 win, 270 WSM. Thats it so far. I am relatively new at this. My RCBS hand priming tool does not use shell plates. It is a spring loaded universal shell holder. I managed to get the primers seated with the RCBS primer seater on the rock chucker supreme. The new cases must have tight primer pockets, just took more force than I wanted to use, but they seated ok. I think after they are fired once they will get easier.

The brass will fit in to the hand primer, but it does put the universal shell holder at about it's maximum capacity:

The trick is in how you insert the case. You can't slide it in straight, because the jaws aren't wide enough in their closed position for the rim to start spreading them apart. Instead, hold the case at about a 45 degree angle, and insert the case rim from the top. In other words, put the 6 o'clock of the case rim directly down through the center of the jaws. Wiggle the case to spread the jaws apart, then rotate the case to 90 degrees (straight up), and it'll click into place.

After priming a bunch of cases by hand, my hands were getting tired and sore. I've since switched to the RCBS press-mounted APS priming tool, which works much better, faster, and my hands no longer cramp up. Here it is in my Rock Chucker:
