If I buy a gun from a dealer or FFL transfer, and if I sell it, I sell it through an FFL so that the official paper trail does not end with me. If I bought it private with no paperwork, I am open to selling it privately. I had my FFL tell me that the Feds came by his shop to pull the papers on a gun I bought through him. I had sold it at a gun show tp a guy that looked very nice and apparently it ended up at a crime scene. Thankfully, I never got a knock on my door, but my lesson was learned. Having a DL number is better than nothing, but I would rather not have them come at all and DL forgery is an accomplished art form these days.
