March 13,2014,I picked up my AR. I don't know how long I've thought about getting one. I just kept putting it off. I have to say...it is fun to shoot. I'm just getting acquainted with it and I'm looking forward to the next range trip.

Its a 20", 1:9 twist. Free float hand guard, 6 pos. stock, Yankee hill flip up sights. I'll get comfortable with the peeps before I try optics.

Yesterday I picked up a BSA Lee Enfield no1 mkIII 1914 off the lonely antiques rack.

It had been sporterized (not badly) it looks like some time ago. Receiver and barrel serials match but bolt handle does not and with the stock being cut down as it were (upper forend gone, hand guard gone, forend cut down about a third of the way back) I know this will not wind up a valuable collectors item.

I aim to restore this back to its original configuration and give this baby a second life as an authentic as possible shooter for me or a nice period reenactment piece. I've found some great resources and have already located a few replacement pieces but if anyone knows an Enfield restoration expert or forum please send it my way.

For the record, I try to be as respectful as possible to these wartime relics and I don't care if I put more money into it than I paid for the rifle in the first place! I just want to make her look and shoot like she's supposed to. Any help would be appreciated.

SIG P232 for the wife. Gunbroker.com purchase. Picked it up from my FFL last Friday. Hope to get to the range with it this weekend!

Vaquero .357 5 1/2" Stainless. Only put 50 rounds thru it so far, but I really like it. Always wanted a cowboy gun.

Just lately.

Haven't checked in for awhile, but finally bought some personal stuff. Picked up a Glock 42 for the wife. Told her that I would take it off of her hands if she didn't like. She liked it.:banghead:

Grabbed a nice custom 98 Mauser. Nice aftermarket barrel chambered for 270. Beautiful deep shiny blue job, Timney trigger, decent walnut stock with a shadowline cheek piece. Stuck a 3X9 Monarch on it. Goes to the range next week.

Found a 14" Contender barrel chambered for 7 TCU. First reloads didn't go boom. After researching things it turns out that that is pretty common. Either headspace problems, hard primers or light hammer spring. We will see.

Bought some other stuff for the store. One that I would like to keep is a Marlin 2000L target rifle. Shot it, loved it but Ginger D said that I can't keep all of them.:D

Ruger 77/357 rifle. They legalized certain specific straightwall centerfire cartridges for use in rifles to hunt deer here in Ohio, .38 Special and .357 magnum being two of those approved. The little Ruger is such a neat & handy rifle I'm glad to finally have a practical reason to own one.:)

1914 BSA Lee Enfield No1 Mk III. Picked it off the rack on Friday. At some point it had been sporterized. Barrel is intact, for end cut down just forward of the rear site. Bore looks perfect. As a shooter, I think it was a good find. As a collector piece, not so much. I'm putting her back on her original wartime config so she can have a 2nd life. Anybody advise on where to find new furniture? I'm keeping the buttstock but it got varnished so I will need to strip and restore with BLO. Several of the missing pieces are on the way but I'm getting hung up on the stock pieces. I will be purchasing the items over time. I realize for the money I will spend, I could have added a brand new something or other but this is a labor of love. I'll make her a fine shooter or sell to a WWI reenactor coworker who is already expressing interest in the project.

Oh nothing fancy just a back yard plinker, Rossi plinker 4" haven't shot it yet and have never owned a Rossi so I'm hoping everything goes well
